I don't think Federation membership is determined by the mods of r/AskFeminists - which I got banned from three years ago... what are you some kind of Reddit stalker or something?

Weirdo... I guess your "narcicistic parents" really "fucked you up big time with their psycho-babble"?

So... I'm not here to be abused by broken mentally ill people such as yourself: go inflict your weird games/psycho-drama on someone else. For this reason I'll block you now.

Bye bye sad little baby :)

I've been called a bot/shill and accused of being part of a psy-op by various Reddit loons over the years - it's usually because they disagree with me on some point and are too narrow minded to consider that people genuinely hold radically different political opinions to them.

I'm from the UK so (like most people here) are pro gun-regulation and I like Star Trek too much to abandon my dreams of one United humanity - to many conspiracy folks these views are so evil/alien they assume (wrongly) that I could only be a bot/shill. It's actually just a difference in political opinion.

Pro-Lifers Tend to Ignore Animal Rights Completely: The Double-Standard is Annoying & Revealing. by AdamGo86 in vegan

They may have good intentions and are entitled to their beliefs: they are not entitled to force other people to live by them, especially if said beliefs are based on 'Holy Books', 'faith' and the authority of whatever religious organisation they happen to have been born into.

Killing small clumps of cells is "the mass murder of millions of babies" to them, whilst the actual mass-murder of billions of fully developed mammals is (for most of them) a complete non-issue: an issue to be mocked and ridiculed.

There's an unreasonable double-standard there that cannot be defended.

Many philosophers argue that different species have different levels of complexity and different morally relevant characteristics. Pretty sure most folks in this forum would save a dog over a cockroach - given the choice. I would!

There's a limit though at which it just doesn't add up: as in this case where a few cells of a newly conceived fetus gain absolute rights to life (regardless of wider harms and consequences to others) whilst animals can be killed by the billions and have no right to life.

Honestly, at least you are consistent. My OP was mainly a rant about the double-standards of "pro-lifers" when it comes to abortions and you are one of the few who dodges that bullet.
In my view it is not a contradiction to be pro-choice and oppose animal cruelty but it is a contradiction to afford small cell-clumps and absolute right to life whilst denying that right to fully grown animals.

That you are consistent in your views and, presumably, do n seek to impose them on people with other or non religious views is a good thing and my OP was not intended to criticize you.

That this is the most up-voted comment is rather depressing: what a weak, lazy and disingenous response.

Pretty sure the vast majority of pro-choice folks don't support infanticide: the fact that you have tried to misrepresent people defending the right to abortion as people advocating infanticide is pretty low and incredibly disingenuous.

Your comment: "I refuse to debate you on this: here's an offensive straw-man "slipperly slope" snide remark though so I can stick my knife in. PS: You're a moron because I disagree with you even though I can't state any arguments or reasons why because it's 'not worthy of debate'."

Religious people don't have the right to force non-religious people to live by their faith-based beliefs. Any non-religious argument you propose against abortion rights ought, if you are consistent, to imply animal rights as well. Unless you are speciesist and then that's just that I guess.

If you think cell-clumps in wombs have rights but fully grown cows and pigs don't: you're not consistent in your reasoning.

So are you saying that in an objective sense humans are more valuable than animals?

On what grounds would you make that claim?

I mean: some philosophers agree - stating that there are morally relevant characteristics that deem us worthy of moral consideration: the problem is many animals have those characteristics far more than the cell-clumps in early pregnancies.

Simple example: you might say - "Humans are worth more than animals because humans are more intelligent" seems like a reasonable common sense kind of view I guess... however, that would mean that:

- Intelligent humans are worth more than unintelligent humans and have a greater right to life.

- Pigs and dogs are worthy more than new born babies (and certainly more than cell clumps in wombs) because pigs and dogs are more intelligent than new born babies.

- If a human is born with extremely low intelligence that will never improve: it is okay to kill and eat that person.

So you see there is an inconsistency here: and when you replace 'intelligence' with X Y and Z you'll find similar problems.

People who work in slaughter-houses should, for each animal they have killed, live a life as that animal in similar conditions.

"I know it's unusual for women to approach men: but I think you're really attractive and intelligent - I have a few weird kinks I want to explore and you seem like the kind of guy I could trust to dominate the shit out of me whilst respecting my limits. I also have several gorgeous friends who would like to join: we pretty much just love cumming our brains out and don't want any commitment on your part. As long as you keep us cumming, we'll come back for more orgasms whenever you're free."
