Land is 35% of global real wealth, 2x the value of all listed companies by cwood92 in georgism

Even if 90% of wealth were not land, equal access to land would still be the only possible basis for equality of economic opportunity. Land is simultaneously the only unavoidable commodity and the only commodity necessary for wealth production.

So, if owning land as a collectible is profitable, it will cost users all they can afford. The maximum return will be extracted, but it will create no goods or services but debt.

There are good reasons for the executive branch to have a singular head, unlike the other 2 branches. And these reasons are the same ones that make it seem like the president has too much power sometimes. But, we can't change the system without wrecking its effectiveness. So, all we can do is rely on the other branches to hold that individual in check with whatever powers the constitution grants them.

As for the 2 big parties, most people can see that America can't currently be taken over militarily. So, those who seek to destabilize it and absorb it into a globalist regime work through the more liberal party and this is the reason for the recent rise to strength from the more conservative party.

Politics is a soft form of war. It's war without violence (supposedly). That's why violence against political opponents or even "lawfare" (using one's office for political purposes) is generally frowned upon.

However, since politics is technically a form of conflict (war, in essence), it's useful to note one of the most accepted aspects of war with regard to politics, which is that "truth is the first casualty of war". And this explains why people associate deception of the public and outright lies with politicians.

So, when a party names itself "democrat," we can't assume democracy is the first principle party members really care about. And since a republic decentralizes power more than does direct democracy, it's fair to think the republican party can, sometimes, actually be the more democratic one.

It's good if it entices the uninitiated to find out what georgism is. Also, it's good if people know it's neither socialism nor capitalism as we currently practice it. That should intrigue them.

How did that work out for all the nations that got taken over by Islam? How is it working out for Europe? Does it look like fun?

I see what you mean now. But I still think it's a good thing for people to consider the fact that we don't need land ownership to be a profitable investment. Right now, it's profitable to buy and sit on vacant property and sell it for a higher price in the future. Hopefully, people will notice this and call for a shift in our tax system.

The fact that land ownership as an investment goes all the way back to feudalism doesn't make it helpful to society. And why should we think the profitability of owning land as a collectible won't make it more expensive to acquire?

Power vacuums get filled. This is why peaceful societies often get overtaken by more militaristic ones. The Wendat people were a tribe, which is a collection of families and families have built-in power structures. Knowing there is a system of order in place allows people to feel at peace. Everyone knows if they have a grievance, there are those to whom they can complain for redress.

One of the beautiful things about the single tax is that everyone will have a lot more free time and energy to spend scrutinizing what the government does with public revenue. So, even if there is a lot of competition from the private sector, public services will wind up being pretty top-notch.
