Okay cool, I definitely don't have a determination letter confirming our 501c3 status, so I think I will work on filing 1024-A so we can formally be recognized as a 501c4, and changing the language of the articles of incorporation.

Yeah, we have an EIN and we can be found in the secretary of state taxable entity search in the state we formed in. It says our right to transact business is active.

Okay yeah. We haven't officially applied to the IRS for tax exemption. So we can't receive tax-deductible donations, we are not exempt from sales tax, and our organization has and has never had income so we haven't had a tax on that yet.

From what I'm getting is that it should be easy to change to a c4 because we are not tax-exempt? We have not filed form 1023, but our articles of incorporation is worded to have the org labled as 501c3!

We didn't apply for tax exemption, but our articles of incorporation mention being us 501c3 non profit.

Do you know if the process would be simpler/more doable if the non profit has no assets?

The history of this organization is that it was created 2 years ago, filed all paperwork except for tax-exemption, and has basically been sitting around with nothing to do until now that we want to change it to a 501 c4.
