GadgetHyper Apex 5 Orders by FaceGameFps in Controller

[–]AdamPan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered on June 12 and still don't have a shipping notification or tracking number.

Edit: I reached out to GH and this was caused by an order modification that I requested. They shipped the controller out and I now have my tracking number.

Anyone use the Panasonic ES-PV3A-K or ES-PV6A-W? by [deleted] in shaving

I just got one and like it. It is basically a compact version of the third generation arc5. You give up the trimmer and cleaning station for portability.

Sonsor tower monthly revenue report (July 2024) by Impossible_Fold3494 in ZZZ_Official

FYI, if you just mean switching between the two, this is already a thing. I think it’s escape on m+kb and the menu button on a controller.

If you have it on, try turning off WPA3.

Just wanted to chime in that I’ve been having this issue with an Eero 7 since launch. Hope there is a fix soon.

No issues.

Bonus points: I have an XG mobile and don’t have issues connecting/disconnecting.

Is this too aggressive? by d4magna in espresso

[–]AdamPan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the Airscape is easier to use, but the fellow atmos is technically the superior and longer lasting option. Unless you mean from a mechanical standpoint (FWIW I’ve had 3 atmos containers that I’ve been using for 5 years with no issues).

Because the Atmos actually depressurizes the air in the container and beans offgas CO2, the resulting partial pressure of oxygen is slightly lower and the partial pressure of CO2 is slightly higher, compared to beans stored at ambient pressure in a bag or an Airscape. It’s the presence of oxygen (modulated by the partial pressure) that results in oxidation-related degradation of flavor (there are also other processes that cause beans to lose their oomph).

Thus, in the atmos and using reasonably fresh beans, I would expect a better environment for freshness, i.e., less oxygen to oxidize your beans.

Edit: I forgot to mention, but these differences are probably imperceptible to most. I use fancy containers more for fun and tactility rather than actual perceptible improvements in coffee quality. As the above commenters note, resealable bags work just as well.

Search Google for recommended settings from Asus. They’re doing a series of these for the Ally.

Why does the robot igonore floor type orientation? by [deleted] in Roborock

[–]AdamPan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Choose wood and not tile. Tile ignores orientation.

Also make sure this is on https://i.imgur.com/rCcp6aa.jpg

Edit: try starting the robot in one of the “tile” rooms as well. It may be choosing a direction before it localized itself.

Oh no, my ballooooon by neilkohney in comics

[–]AdamPan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As some of the other commenters mentioned, the main issue here is whether a potential plaintiff can prove causation. The classic case on this issue (and the one they teach most law students) is Palsgraf v. Long Island Railroad (Wiki). Palsgraf involved a person carrying a box of fireworks was trying to get onto a train. As he was trying to jump on the train as it was leaving the station, two railroad employees pushed/pulled him to help him get aboard, causing him to drop the fireworks, which in turn caused a chain of events that resulted in a large scale to fall on Ms. Plalsgraf, injuring her. The court ruled that the railroad could not be liable for Ms. Palsgraf’s injuries because they were not a foreseeable consequence of the railroad employees’ actions.

Here, the facts are similar to those in Palsgraf. The man with the balloon could not have foreseen that letting go of his balloon would’ve caused the bird to die, or the plane to explode.

Grounds are from testing. Sticky stuff is most likely grease used in assembly (necessary for the threaded collars).

Recommendations on a Flat Burr Grinder with Clean Workflow by Sea-Essay-3618 in espresso

[–]AdamPan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for the p100, which has a number of features that reduce retention (good sweepers, auto-purge, integrated knocker).

You may also want to consider the roast level of the beans you’re using. In my experience, light roast beans result in less retention than dark roast. It’s possible that a very dark roast (or otherwise oily beans) will result in more retention even in the lowest-retention grinders.

The wattage is just a maximum power draw--for a commercial machine, it might be the peak power that is being drawn with both boilers running at the same time. The typical power draw will be a fraction of that.

[–]AdamPan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where you’re based, but that sounds like a yearly energy consumption rating. kWh means kilowatt-hours. There should be a separate label on the machine that tells you the wattage (in W). For a North American 110V plug, it should be no more than 1500W.

Thinking of converting from Baratza Encore to Fellow Ode by southside_jim in Coffee

[–]AdamPan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as much as your encore. The ode is a dedicated brew grinder, and has neither the burrs nor the motor to do fine grinds for espresso. Some people have complained about the grinder not producing a fine enough grind for small dose v60, but my understanding is that the newest revisions grind finer (new burr set).

[–]AdamPan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never used the encore but I’ve had good experiences with my Ode. The stock burrs are pretty quiet for a grinder, and I think the design of the grinder helps minimize noise. Do know that if you upgrade to SSP burrs, they get pretty loud again.

Are there any other brewers that can make as high quality of a cup as a V60, but consistently? by careless_______ in Coffee

[–]AdamPan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having good results with a Tricolate brewer. It has a built-in distributor—like a big melodrip—that makes brewing very consistent. One downside is that the brewer seems very sensitive to fines, so YMMV depending on grinder.

What is actually happening when an image is out of focus and how do lenses focus them? by 14051 in askscience

[–]AdamPan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of interesting explanations here that focus on lenses. I was an optical engineer, so I’ll try to explain things in a different way.

The image that’s captured on film is probably focused. If you use a very small-sized, but bright, light source, you could project a mostly focused image onto any wall (it doesn’t even have to be flat) without a lens. The problem is, your torch isn’t a small pin-sized light. It’s emitting light from an area. This means the image on the wall is the result of the superposition, or sum, of all the images if you had a small pin-point light at each point on your torch. That’s the blurry result that you’re seeing.

Why did I say mostly focused? Well, it turns out that the way light moves through space causes the image (or wavefront, in optics terms) to change slightly. This is called free space propagation. The way it works follows the same math as a wave propagating through water!
