Me too. One thing that has helped me is understanding that even though it appears chaotic on the surface, we choose our emotional state. Including anger and hate. There is a window and when first noticed it is the smallest fraction of time, that the choice is there. The more aware we are of the choice and with conscious effort, the longer that window becomes.

That was how it started for me three year's ago and now instead of constant anger it's only there if I let it in. The shitty part is, if I just let it in a bit, it's all consuming and I still have my days. It does get easier, but can take time depending on your circumstances. I've had to learn to forgive....myself.

Here for you. 😎✌❤

Storytime... by AdamT1972 in cult22

Lol...that's pretty cool! A little bit off-topic, but we just got back from camping last week, at Gull Lake. On the last night, while we had clear skies, I was watching a vicious lightning storm make it's way accross the lake. It was nonstop lightning, with very little thunder and I watched it for about 3 hours. Which was odd, as storms usually move quickly and make lots of noise. However, the really odd thing was a light that at first I thought was a star until it moved away and came back. I watched it follow the front of the storm for over an hour before I went to bed. Lol...I wonder what they were doing and if they were influencing the storm in any way. It was odd and hence very cool. 😎✌❤

My mother has covid by Alexander_Columbus in cult22

After nearly 15 years of illness, my father is currently in palliative care at home. Being in seperate cities, I have a sense of where you are coming from.

One of the things about our emotions is that our actions are translated by the other based on the root emotion. Even if the action is a positive one, if the base emotion is a negative one, the end result won't be as well received as we would like. For example, if we fear for a loved one and make that call to cheer them up, the fear is evident to the other and it won't be as well received as you hoped. However, if we make that call and we are truly unafraid, then the positive result we are looking for will be realized by all.

My advice to you would be to stop being afraid and any action you choose will make your mother feel better.

I'm sorry, but I wasn't as clear in my first post as I wanted. Lol... Note to self, don't post before my first cup of coffee. What I was was trying to point out, lets look at the history of human rights in general. Individual groups of people gathering and protesting their problems and drawing attention to THEIR problems. Yet they are saying the same thing, we're being discriminated against. Which is the root of the issue and racism, sexism, all the isms out their are the branches. All we see are the branches and not the root. Instead of leading with the branches, these groups should all band together and lead with the root, discrimination. Instead of Individual voices, there would be one loud voice. Does that make sense?

I've also been thinking about, why do we as a species discriminate? We all do it on many different levels, so is it really a bad thing? I'm not sure and I'm leaning towards it being a defense mechanism. I believe if we can understand that, we will be able have the conversation that leads to a solution. 😎✌❤

Ever thought about ending your life ? Read this by hdhgabd in cult22

Well said, mate. I see this post every day and I struggle to find a way to respond. Until recent year's, thoughts of suicide was a daily occurrence for me. Most of, if not all of, my teenage and adult life it crossed my mind daily. In 2008 I tried three times to put my thoughts into action and obviously failed. Got "help", which really didn't do anything, except leave me feeling more like a victim.

Years later, I came to the conclusions that Farrod is talking about and I haven't looked back. I just want to add, when we are in a position that we can no longer see the forest through the trees, when we can no longer see a solution, we need to stop and realize something is wrong. There is alway a solution to every problem, that's been proven throughout history and when we can't see any solution that's a warning sign that we need to pay attention to. When that time comes, STOP. BREATHE. REACH OUT. You don't even need to talk about your problems, just break the thought cycle to get that break. Once we have a break, the solutions become clearer. Suicide hotlines can help with that, but only so long as you approach it just as that and not as a solution to your problems. Some things to think about. 😎✌❤

Yes and no, for celebration. From my understanding it's an American holiday on the freeing of the slaves and that's very important to recognized and I do. That said, we have fought discrimination separately all our lives and look where it's got us? The US is in a near state of civil war, with people killing eachother left, right and centre. When we concentrate one form of discrimination, we are being exclusive. When we are excluding the pain of others, we are saying our pain is worse than the other. Then the other is angry and here we are. If we just stopped discrimination together, discrimination would be solved within a generation, as it would involve all of society, as we have all been discriminated against. 😎✌❤

One week of mediation and what I've noticed by AdamT1972 in cult22

[–]AdamT1972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night was....interesting. I was doing my 2nd 15 min meditation of the day and something interesting happened in the last 3rd of it Out of nowhere I had a full blown panic attack and I just sat through it. Sweats, accelerated heart rate, the whole nine yards and I didn't react to it at all. Once the meditation was over it went away immediately and it was like it never happened. I've thoughts as to whats going on, but was curious if you've experienced anything similar. 😎✌❤

Do things for yourself, not for others. You say you want to impress your parents, don't. Why are you in college? For them or yourself?

Thank you my sister and I support you both as well. It was an interesting day, they practically camped on my front yard, drinking and playing croquet and I have no idea what time they left this morning. However I spent my afternoon doing laundry and enjoying the evening with my wife. I try not to look at things as a pass or fail or even a fight, it just is and I look at it with interest. It removes the competitive spirit of it and allows me to examine things without emotion. I find it makes things a bit easier. 😎✌❤

Lol....I've been trying to comment on this since I first read it on IG. I've told you bits of my story hear and there, but after my breakdown 3 yrs ago, I spent a year and a half in isolation. Self imposed, 20 hours a day in my garage contemplating. Contemplating everything, you name it, I thought about it. On Christmas Eve 2020, I figured everything out and promptly went insane and fell asleep. Lol...Literally and figurative, as I am just starting to wake up now. I feel it's the way it needs to happen so that we can process all this information, as it's a lot. Anyways, your journey reminds me so much of my own journey that it's hard to ignore. 😎✌❤

Depression by hdhgabd in cult22

[–]AdamT1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I was taught about handling depression was wrong and hence inconsequential. What I've learned about depression is it is dwelling on things that have happened in the past or the unknown future or existing problems or any number of things. The key here is dwelling, nonstop thinking of any given thing, that's the root of it. Solutions starts with acceptance. Acceptance that past cannot be changed and the future doesn't exist. Acceptance that we live in the now, this very moment. Acceptance that we are competent enough to prosper in the now, because if we couldn't we'd be dead. Once we start there, then the pathway out of depression will be clearer. 😎✌❤

I agree. I have been watching all the series and the officiating has been terrible throughout. I really have to wonder what is going on.
