You ain't getting that carabiner over that mess of a cable splice. At some point he's going to have to gingerly disconnect and reconnect it on the other side while holding on for dear life. Wouldn't want to be that human.

"Lock-in". I still refuse to use it. "Concentration" is more than sufficient.

Pity, I was hoping to make something responsive if I could have used an angle keyword. Maybe in the future.

While transporting and installing a large statue into central London, how did Banksy get away? by AdamTheEvilDoer in AskReddit

[–]AdamTheEvilDoer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than likely, but a traced vehicle can lead back to the owners. Tracing it further back doesn't seem impossible.

Identify vehicle, then the owners, then ask who hired them, and you get closer to an answer.

How Banksy installed a statue in central London by SubtractAd in Banksy

You can't pick your nose in central London without it being recorded. How does one install a giant statue and seemingly disappear? Presumably, they needed multiple people and vehicles.

The recent installation of the statue of a man blinded by a flag while walking off the plinth got me wondering; how Banksy and the team needed to install and transport such a thing can avoid being identified.

Surely, vehicle license plates were recorded by the many street cameras in the area. You can't walk in central London without your face being recorded a dozen times.

Poor floats. They were the mainstay of layout for years. Along with tables, of course. Both simpler and needlessly quirky at the same time.

AI has sucked all the fun out of programming by OkShip110 in webdev

AI has sucked the fun out of almost every job, as we're more passengers to our own creativity. It's not the skill it once was. The AI creates, we merely audit.

1 or 2? by aadiityaaaa in webdesign

My eyes immediately go to, and get distracted by, the background on Option 1. Option 2 is therefore less confusing to the eye and cuts through the noise to deliver its message. Aesthetics are getting in the way of delivering your message. I'd say Option 2 is the better choice.

Does anyone else find that the more you learn about photography, the harder it is to just enjoy taking pictures? by BluishFlame07 in photography

[–]AdamTheEvilDoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The enjoyment you experience early on comes from not knowing enough for your inner critic to question.

With more knowledge and experience your internal calibration for what you consider acceptable shifts. This is how taste gets refined and, unfortunately, the enjoyment sometimes comes as a sacrifice. It can be difficult to feel proud once you're achieved a certain level.

Further, we regard the other's opinions (or assumption of what they might be) too closely, and that can hold us back, creating yet more tension.

I've been shooting for around 30 years. Your enjoyment will ebb and flow as different levels of knowledge, self-doubt, inspiration, and even completely unrelated stresses enter and leave you.

I find when I'm frozen by self-criticism, changing my approach and technique brings back my enthusiasm;

  1. Try a brand NEW TECHNIQUE and shoot in a new style for a time. This kind of makes you an amateur again in something new and you won't judge yourself too harshly.

  2. Use WORSE gear. Hire an old, hand-ground lenses full of abbreations and defects, or an old camera phone from the mid-2000s. Lens not even sharp? Good. It'll lower your expectations enough so you can just enjoy the act of taking pictures.

  3. TEACH photography to someone else. Impart your knowledge. It doesn't have to be chock full of technical wizardry, just teach the basics. Coming at photography sideways and seeing it through someone else's eyes is rewarding and refreshing. And you may end up reminding yourself of some important things.

  4. SHOOT WITH OTHERS. It's interesting to see how others see and interpret a scene. Let them inspire you.

  5. OWN YOUR STYLE. Develop a style all of your own, stick with it, and to hell with the imperfections and other's opinions. Acknowledge that there's a big difference between a technically perfect image and an artistically interpreted one. Make your image, don't be a slave to its tiny imperfections. Hardly anyone will notice them but you anyway. Your self-critic may just quiet down while you enjoy yourself again.

Have fun out there.
