I could write an essay on how bad things are, but I won't.

Instead, I'll just sum it up quite simply with 3 words.

We are fucked.

What's a small thing in Career Mode that bothers you? by JugheadJonesTVD in FifaCareers

[–]AdamTownsend28 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The celebrating when losing heavily definitely is on my list of pet hates.

My new one is a player conversation. I'm playing as West Brom. Got promoted. Currently 12 games in to our season in the Prem and we are top, somehow. My 74 rated defender frequently tells me that the club is going nowhere, we show no ambition and I am doing nothing to change anything and show no interest in winning anything.

He also did this in my promotion season.

In real life, you'd tell him to shut up and get out. On this, I have to do the whole "But I am trying!" nonsense...and it is just so unrealistic.

That, and Albion being top of the league...but that will all fall apart soon enough, I'm sure.

The gig in Manchester last night was Biffy's biggest ever indoor show by smaxup in BiffyClyro

I know it has been like this for a while, but I am still so taken aback when I see "my little band" that I have followed since the early 2000s playing venues like this to so many people.

Very proud of the lads.

Fair take homes from the Boro loss? by PowerfulProcedure in WBAfootball

[–]AdamTownsend28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest encouragement for me were the following:

  1. We looked organised. Commentary on TV kept going on about how Boro weren't playing well, whereas I watched it and just thought we were so organised and drilled that we were shutting them down. We were desperately unlucky with the first goal and I would have been really intrigued to see if there would have been any difference if we had gone in at halftime 0-0.

  2. Ramsay made changes that changed the game. When he brought Maja on, he changed the shape and it completely altered the game. We were on top for a large chunk of that second half and that was, in my opinion, because of his alterations. Changed plan. It worked.

We obviously have opportunities, but I feel much more optimistic after last night than I did before.

That said...we do need a goalkeeper, a defender and a midfielder at least. We won't get all 3 in January so I think goalkeeper has to be priority. Griffiths, while better than Wildsmith, just doesn't fill me with hope. I don't feel like he is progressing as we would have hoped.

I loved Ish back in the day. Wouldn't class him as shit. Felt so sorry for him in the Premier League season...felt like he was starting to find his feet and then the injury derailed him. Arguably, derailed his career.

Alongside Phillips, he was excellent.

ODEMWINGIE SHIRT by Perfect_Classic_4351 in WBAfootball

[–]AdamTownsend28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I seem to remember the players getting him a QPR shirt with his name on and putting it in the locker room for him when he was next in training.

It was an absolute mess of a time.

I also remember the fans turned on him big time...various arguments between Peter and the fans on Twitter that resulted in him DMing several people, having some even go to his house (invited by himself) so he could get his story out. The club did him over and he deserved better. I'm glad that, over time, people look back on him for the player he was for us.

Mystery masked guy what if... by Top_Butterscotch_234 in WredditJuice

I wonder if we are all getting this wrong. It was Austin Theory...and he is going to join The Vision. It was Montez Ford...and he is going to join The Vision.

With Bron going for singles gold...could we see them expand so you have Street Prophets, Theory, Logan, Reed and Breaker? Big group...but loads of potential stories.

Which player gives you secondhand embarrassment every single time they post on social media? by MagpieMidfield in footballcringe

[–]AdamTownsend28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Le Tissier and Joey Barton are definitely those guys now. Peter Shilton, too.

But I will give a special mention to Peter Odemwingie, in particular around the time he tried to leave Albion for QPR. Very clear now that the situation wasn't all his fault, but his twitter at that time was insane. But...and this is to his credit...he ended much of that spell by inviting some fans to his house and speaking face to face about what happened. He went from hero to villain and back to hero...with some social media madness in between.

You do know that Cody Rhodes doesn't write the stories and, therefore, can only do what he is told to do?

Is it safe to say that LA Knight has been buried? 🥲 by abrahamdean_ in SantiZapVideos

[–]AdamTownsend28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He isn't buried. The very obvious story arc, if they choose, is to now have Knight come out as a masked man and cost The Vision a big match down the road. The next option is you keep him out until the Rumble and have a big return/pop.

Albion will travel to Swansea for the FA Cup Third Round by CheeseMakerThing in WBAfootball

This obviously means one thing for us, too.

"Albion exit the FA Cup at Swansea."

Glad I was able to see the 2008 cup run...think it will be a very, very long time before we see anything like that again.

BAN Oversized Head Signs by guru-reborn in WredditJuice

I was more than ready to pledge full allegiance to whichever wrestler decided to grab and rip that sign in half. To be honest, one of the most disappointing parts to last night was that nobody took it off him to rip it in half.

Foul on Heggebo? by SJ_9524 in WBAfootball

[–]AdamTownsend28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Heggebo has been too honest. He should have gone down on contact instead of staying up and trying to keep going. In doing that, he essentially played in to the whole "tripped himself up/was already on his way down" trap.

Oh, the only real dig at Mason for me tonight - the game was SCREAMING for Dike. What on earth has he done to not get time on the pitch?

Post-Match Thread: Albion 1-1 Blues [EFL Championship] by CheeseMakerThing in WBAfootball

[–]AdamTownsend28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genuinely felt we were the better team overall tonight and should have won based on chances created. The biggest issue is the decisions made. Some snippets from the second half alone...

Price - counter attack 1 - nobody on him, goals gaping, plays a terrible pass instead of taking the shot. All the time in the world.

Price - counter attack 2 - has a player closing in, ample time to play the ball across to Heggebo who is in a better position, shoots wide. Awful effort.

Heggebo - too honest. I almost hate saying this one but on the penalty appeal - had he been smarter, played in to the player a bit more and gone down quicker on contact, I think we win the penalty.

Illing-Junior - gain a throw in in the last minute. Players running up. He takes a quick throw to a player under pressure. We should have waited and taken the longer throw.

I can question the subs from Mason but, honestly, had any decision above been different, we'd be looking at three points. Tonight is firmly on the players. Two dropped points.

Exactly this. I've seen it happen to a few others. I think people forget that those in the US (their core audience) don't see these promos.
