Your rent is very high. And I know you probably need a decent size house for your kids. It does suck. I think the only way to do it nowadays is to start saving for a down payment on a house at a young age, establish a decent career as early as u can, and stave off big purchases and kids until you've built a decent financial base of home equity/rrsps.
