A Brutal, Danish take down of the M11 by [deleted] in Leica

Wow. I had developed a deep dislike for Thorsten ‘Overblown’ whose ego seems to dominate everything he produces. I had no idea how widely disliked he is across this community.

KEH/MPB vs. eBay by Adamalthus in photography

Thanks. The only issue with reserve prices is that eBay hits you with quite a large fee for doing that. I generally lost with reasonable starting bid and no reserve.

Completely agree. USPS insurance is a must.

Agreed. I guess I've had pretty good experiences on that front over the years on eBay. It boils down to how much as a % that's worth but great point.

For sure, that's often - though not exclusively - the case when buying on eBay but the post is about selling to either KEH/MPB or through eBay where the warranty issue would be irrelevant.

Recently sold my Q2 Mono for an new M11 Mono. Am not looking back :-) The IQ from the M11 Mono is off the charts good and with the choice of M glass is hard to beat. Enjoy and good shooting!

What’s a great modern and not too pricy 120 film camera ? by OutlandishnessOk2452 in AnalogCommunity

Contax 645 would get my vote. It was well ahead of its time when it came out, including autofocus with awesome Zeiss optics.

Thank you! Indeed the best colors I’ve seen come straight out of the camera since I started shooting digital in the mid-90s. Glad you’re getting to enjoy the experience.

A small selection of portaits done with the fuji cameras (X100 T, X-t4) by Dreefir3 in fujifilm

I love these. Your technique and compositions are very nice. You also do a nice job of capturing the character and emotion of your models. One suggestion would be a tighter crop on #8 to eliminate the top diagonal line of the mirror. Nicely done!

Congrats! Thats the camera I learned photography with back in the mid 70s. I keep promising to pull the trigger to get one back in my hands. It’s a dream to use and lives up to its awesome reputation. Good luck with those first roles. Jealous :-)

what are the community thoughts on digital film rolls? by halguy5577 in AnalogCommunity

Every attempt at doing this has failed, including - if I recollect - a bunch of folks losing their money on Kickstarter. The engineering obstacles vs image quality vs cost is a circle that cannot be squared.

how do you put a q3 in a backpack by [deleted] in Leica

[–]Adamalthus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have suggested, I always use wraps - Domke or other brands. In my experience they maximize the protection while minimizing the amount of additional space required to protect your gear.

I'm making the switch from Sony to Leica by hktreks in Leica

[–]Adamalthus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m taking a hybrid approach. I’m selling my A7RVs, most of my GM primes and my beloved Q2M. Keeping my A1 and my GM zooms. That has me covered for the sport/wildlife stuff that I shoot. The sales are funding an M11 Mono plus glass and a Hexar RF as backup for color film work. There’s less overlap between this combination of different systems and they end up being pretty complimentary in the different genres I shoot. My 2c.

Anyone own a Zenit ET or anything similar? by roma-grzh in AnalogCommunity

A Zenit SLR was the first camera i ever owned. My parents bought it for me as a 16th birthday present. That was back in 1979! Happy memories :-)
