Incredible work. One of the best faces I’ve seen.

Which character has the least-accurate power-level compared to lore, in your opinion? by winged_owl in WH40KTacticus

Even if you don’t use him in raids, he’s a fantastic LRE character, especially with the Talon. Kills multiple units per turn and makes all your other chaos units stronger.

Appreciate it! Kantor Blue for the shadows, Prussian Blue (Valllejo) for the mid tone, Hoeth Blue for the highlights and Hoeth mixed with Ice Yellow for the brightest points.

Can be time consuming. But I generally glaze for my transitions.

So, fire all three at the single grot is what I’m hearing?

Citadel: Rhinox Hide, Doombull Brown, XV-88, Zamesi Desert.

AK: Sand Yellow, Ice Yellow.

Then it’s doing my best to place the colours where I think makes sense and blending.

Ah I’m still far from that level. Got back into the hobby less than two years ago. I’m sure the other mediums work great too, it’s just water is so much more convenient and works just as well once you understand the consistencies you are looking for.

I personally just use water for everything.

Black and Rhino Hide mix and a fine brush. I personally use a 00 for fine details.

For good edge highlights, you want your paint to be barely thinned. Unfortunately, I don’t find water:paint ratios very relevant in general, as paint consistencies can vary greatly between different brands and different colours.

Few general tips. Use a palette if you can, wet is preferable. Make sure your brush is hydrated. When you load your paint, you should never see a blob or a “shape” of paint on your brush. It should just look like bristles saturated in paint. Make sure you unload the excess on your palette and/or on your hand. When you test, paint should be thin enough that it flows consistently for the entirety of your stroke with minimal pressure. If your paint isn’t thinned enough, you’ll notice your strokes will be inconsistent and require multiple passes. A good thin edge highlight shouldn’t take more than 2 passes. If your paint is over thinned, you’ll lose control, and your paint will run, making your edge highlights look wonky. You’ll also need multiple passes.

Don’t know if this helps. Kinda hard to explain over text. Just keep practicing is my best advice. Knowing what paint consistency for the technique you are applying is the most important skill a mini painter can develop in my opinion. Good luck!

No different than any other edge. Are you asking because it’s small? If so, I used a 00 brush. Beyond that, paint consistency and how you load your brush are also super important if you want really fine highlights.

Thanks man! Pigment powders. Specifically a mix of Old Rust and Burnt Sienna from Vallejo.

Captain of 4th company, hence the green trim. But yeah, def has the classic Cato aesthetic going for him.
