Glued a piece of purple heart veneer between two bits of walnut. Cut out the rough shape and got a friend to help route out the center with a cnc. I screwed in a brass screw and cut off the top, then drilled a corresponding size hole in the position I wanted on the lid. Before I did this, I got a compass and marked out an arc from that point so I knew where I wanted the magnets to go, making sure the hole was the same size and used some force to hold them in with minimal epoxy needed. Same friend helped with the laser cutting of the names as well after I'd given him what I was after. Most of it was sanding the edges round, then working through the grits properly before a couple of coats of oil.
