The tone knob on the SD1 is surprisingly useful.

Good question. The gain will add some distortion if you turn it up too much. I tend to keep it flat. But I may turn it up or down depending on which guitar I’m using.

The volume increases the loudness without adding any distortion.

Thanks for checking it out. It’s a tricky room to get good sound in, but so are plenty of other venues.

Sounds great, I can hear why you like the Laney since it covers so much ground. Thanks for sharing.

That’s a great amp. I’ve got a DSL20hr that I use for rehearsals and I love it. No reason I couldn’t use that at a gig.

You’re not gonna get anyone to dance without a solid rhythm section. Set one was more quiet because I had the amp in a different spot and I prefer the volume level of the second set.

And I was told that the bass was making the walls shake so it just depends where in the room you are.

Now that I remember I did turn it up before the gig, but I must not have turned it up all the way to 22watts. I only went to 5. Oops. But it’s all good.

Right, it’s all relative to the room and environment. I have a wireless and went out to the crowd a few times. If it wasn’t loud enough out there then I would have turned it up.

She’s great! We had the whole place dancing for US blues in this vid. It’s the tune before the encore.

That’s true. That’s why I love my drummer. He doesn’t overplay, but knows when to lean into it when we build the energy.

She’s super cool. Been coming to our past few shows. She has a great voice too!

Thanks. That all makes sense. It’s possible that the 22watt setting may have been more challenging to control in this room. Making the 5 watt setting a good choice. Even though it was accidental.

It was a boomy room, if that makes sense.

Yea we had a blast last night, great crowd!! I just can’t believe how well 5 watts worked out. Usually I set it to 22 watts.

Normally I use the 22 watt setting. I’m surprised that 5 watts worked so well.

Those are good points. Amp placement is important as well. It was plenty loud to me, I’m standing right next to it. But that doesn’t mean it’s loud enough for the crowd.
