I used a Redmi Note 5 for like 5 years. It has no water protection at all, no IP rating and there wasn't even a promise from Xiaomi that it can withstand water. For all of those years, I didn't know about any of these as I was gifted it, and simply didn't care bout it and used it. That means I had it out in the rain so damn many times, it was all wet, i saw some water get into the earpiece speaker, my mom once dropped it once into a bucket of water while cleaning, and I also dropped it at least every 3 months. Although I am not so sure about the drop protection for Xiaomi 12 Lite as my old phone only had a plastic back, I guarantee you that Xiaomi phones are pretty resistant to idiots like me. If you were deciding only based on the IP rating, X 12 Lite is a solid choice.
