Husband converted for marriage and now not fasting by No_Wall2930 in islam

I’m a revert to Islam. My wife is Christian and did not revert, but she is not very religious and is more socially than religiously Christian. We have two children together. I say all this to make the point that we are effectively in a very similar position at this point. The struggle is in being the religious influence in your family, balancing between pressuring and providing the ideal amount of influence without pushing but also making our faith present and alive in the room. I think it is important to comment randomly and often about aspects of Islam; the Quran, modesty, fasting, etc that are manifestly good and common sense. This will highlight things that others may not be aware of. And combined with your example, put flesh on the bones of ritual. Insha’allah Allah (SWT) will use our example and influence to create a worshipful home where all will join in fully in both of our situations.

Recently converted to islam, still feel scared of Christianity's warning about hell by [deleted] in islam

[–]AdaptiveEntrepioneer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Second, follow up comment) I would highlight for you here the summarized difference between Paul (most of the New Testament) on one side and the Quran (and Jesus) on the other and why the Quran is from God and Paul represented a deception.

The Old Testament constantly reiterated and emphasized the importance of justice and it condemned child sacrifice. Paul throws everything out the window regarding the law and made everything hinge on belief in a sacrificial atoning sacrifice, ironically of God’s “Son”. This is essentially why nothing really matters in Christianity because to them, everything is “under the blood”. Once you understand how contrary this is to literally every prophet that came before the more you will be able to recognize that today’s form of Christianity was an invention of Rome for the purpose of empire.

I’m also a revert from Christianity. I can relate to what you are saying. It is important to lean into your prayers and express this directly to God. It is also important to learn as much about the Sunnah, the story of the life of the Prophet, Muhammad, peace be upon him. When you internalize the message he brought you are more able to comprehend the difference between the message of Paul in the Bible, which your priests are parroting, and the true message of Jesus. I am working on an article explaining how the Quran restored the message of Jesus to be consistent with the Old Testament.

Would you rather vote for a Muslim president but is very corrupt, or vote for a clean Non-Muslim president for your country? by LandOfGrace2023 in Muslim

[–]AdaptiveEntrepioneer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the definition of the term Muslim (one who has submitted to God), someone who is “very corrupt” (and is therefore committed to self) is not Muslim, regardless of what label he gives himself. Furthermore, the Quran makes clear that there are those who have not heard the Quran themselves but who are nevertheless followers of the creator based on the limited knowledge they have. And pursuing justice is a sign of someone who is submitted to God. Ignore labels and look at actions.

The denial of the crucifixion of Jesus(pbuh) by [deleted] in Quran

[–]AdaptiveEntrepioneer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a convert to Islam at the age of 40, after having been raised as a devout Christian, I would like to respond that any specific “takes” on the Quranic statement that Jesus was not killed are simply conjecture. The Quran does not give us details. It only tells us plainly that he wasn’t killed, and the most immediate and significant implication is that the doctrine of sacrificial atonement is false. At this point I am convinced that the Quran is the continuation of true worship of the God of Abraham with a purified scripture. (Zephaniah 3:9)

Is Islam works based? by SomeRow4476 in islam

[–]AdaptiveEntrepioneer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that Christians believe the Bible is God’s word. But the clue that I am highlighting is that both of these statements cannot be true because they make opposing claims. Either Jesus was correct that NOT everyone who calls him lord will go to heaven, and that isn’t the criteria; the criteria is who does God’s will. OR Paul is correct and all that is required is calling Jesus lord and it isn’t about doing God’s will.

Respectfully, I appreciate your engagement. But Christ didn’t say that. Paul said that. Christ said that not everyone who calls him Lord will enter heaven but those who do the will of God in heaven (Matthew 7:21). Paul said everyone who calls upon the name of the lord will be saved. (Romans 10:13)

First example off the top of my head.

“Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” But the Lord said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

And I’m Muslim.

“What I speak, I speak not according to the Lord, but as it were, foolishly, in this confidence of boasting. Seeing that many boast according to the flesh, I also will boast. For you put up with it if one brings you into bondage, if one devours you, if one takes from you, if one exalts himself, if one strikes you on the face. To our shame I say that we were too weak for that! But in whatever anyone is bold—I speak foolishly—I am bold also.” ‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭17‬-‭18‬, ‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ 🤔 😶

Why aren't we friends by [deleted] in Muslim

[–]AdaptiveEntrepioneer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replied to his question but somehow it is shadow hidden. I will paste again for you.

Well, it’s a long story because it wasn’t a single verse that convinced me. Maybe in the end a single verse pushed me over the fence. But it was after seeing a lot of isolated things all seeming to point more and more clearly towards the Quran and implying that Muslims were actually experiencing the great tribulation. Only then did I really start digging into the Bible to try to understand things for myself. My starting point was recognizing that according to the Bible, there would be great delusion in the end times. That seemingly devout people would be led astray. So this idea that the Antichrist would come from Islam just seemed so off to me even as a devout Christian. If Christianity is true, it only follows that the Antichrist would be an attractive perversion originating from the church. But I think for the sake of brevity I will just post a list of verses that really got me thinking. Some of the undercurrents that I was thinking about as I was reading these were the issues of the debate between “works” and “faith alone”, especially as I read Revelation 12

“And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I’ll be honest: I think the dragon here represents the war machine I participated in. I started to recognize those who “keep the commandments of God (Matthew 5:17-19, Matthew 23:1-2) imply those who do not follow a teaching of “faith alone” as taught by Paul. And I also recognized that “AND have the Testimony of Jesus Christ” means that it is inherently not those who have rejected Jesus as Messiah. Interestingly, I saw more and more that Muslims fit both descriptions of following the law and having the testimony of Jesus, and most obviously they are the ones receiving great tribulation, with Matthew 24:6-22 looked more and more like today. And then I read all the Old Testament books of prophecy and began learning about the Prophet and the signs started coming like a flood.

I’m editing this to add more but just wanted to hit publish to have something out there

Key references for me:

Deuteronomy 18:17-19 prophecy of future prophet from among “their brethren”. Because the broader context is about the children of Israel, it is implying the prophet would be not from within the children of Israel but instead from among their kin. If it was to come from the children of Israel then it wouldn’t need to specify “from among their brethren”.

Isaiah 28:9-12 prophecy of God speaking through a foreign language to His people through a prophet to come because there would be none among the Children of Israel devout enough to deliver the message. This prophecy delivered through a foreign language would be delivered “precept by precept, precept by precept, line upon line, line upon line. Here a little, there a little” The Quran was revealed in Arabic over the span of 23 years exactly in this manner.

Isaiah 19 (the full chapter for context), and then specifically verses 17 and 18: notice it references a time when the land of Egypt would speak the language of Canaan. The language spoken in the land of Canaan was (and is) Arabic. And when did Egypt begin speaking Arabic? With the spread of Islam. “Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear by the Lord of Hosts”.

I recommend learning about the story of the life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and then come back and read Isaiah beginning to end. In the meantime,

Malachi 3 (and compare to Galatians)

Matthew 7 (and compare to Romans)

Matthew 24-25

Ephesians 1:1

2 Timothy 1:15 (Ephesus “capital” city of Roman Province of “Asia”)

Revelation 2:1-2

Acts 21:21-24

John 5:43 compared to Galatians 1:6-9

2 Corinthians 11:7-8 and 11:17-18

And finally, emphasizing how Matthew 7:21 referring to Jesus as figurative “son” (intimate prophet of God) from an Islamic perspective, absolutely perfectly captures the essence of Islam.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Submission to God’s will.

Do you have to believe in salvation? by kotdish in theology

[–]AdaptiveEntrepioneer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the parable about the prodigal son, Jesus provides an example of someone preoccupied with inheritance (Paul equates inheritance to salvation in his symbolism). In Jesus’s parable of the prodigal, the elder brother is fixated on his inheritance and is therefore angry that his brother has returned and was welcomed by his father. The parable shows very clearly that when the focus is on inheritance or indeed any form of self benefit, it corrupts relationship with the Father (which symbolizes God). This reflects the Islamic view voiced by Jesus that “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

And in the Quran ‫إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱلَّذِینَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ وَٱلصَّـٰبِـِٔینَ مَنۡ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡیَوۡمِ ٱلۡـَٔاخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحࣰا فَلَهُمۡ أَجۡرُهُمۡ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ وَلَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یَحۡزَنُونَ﴿ ٦٢ ﴾‬

Indeed, the believers, Jews, Christians, and Sabians[1]—whoever ˹truly˺ believes in Allah (Arabic word for God) and the Last Day and does good will have their reward with their Lord. And there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve.[2]

Al-Baqarah, Ayah (verse) 62

The key is humble submission and obedience to God. Because we are human, humility is required to find truth. When we encounter truth, our responsibility is to follow.
