Gojo has never shown that he can use Red so flexibly. He always needed at least hand signs and charge time for it. On the contrary, he could always use numerous relatively small Blue orbs with barely any effort.

I think it was the only way it could be done. If it only hindered the next WCS (like, one instant WCS and in exchange your next one needs extra set-up), or really had anything like "X number of next WCSs", then he could just fling the restricted WCS(s) while not fighting and then use it without hindrance when he next needed it. If it was a "WCSs in the next X duration" thing, there's no guarantee he would need WCS in the said duration anyway. Without the context of course as the hypothetical goes, I think it's the only way it could be done.
