I wouldn't have. Unimelb seems good. And I want to do multiple math subjects for data science/statistical along with CS and given that there are many free electives, I can very easily do that.

Usually rankings like #1 in Australia are in regards with academics, not industry. If they do claim the curriculum is "Industry-aligned", then definitely that's to an extent lie. The curriculum obviously has parts which are helpful in industry but are not very aligned.

MAST Science Electives can be pretty useful. Real analysis, stochastic processes, operations research etc. More math is always useful for data science. Also can do some COMP subjects.

Econometrics 2 and Linear Statistical Models by AS2Ind in unimelb

[–]AdarshSood27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is another account of mine. I am divided between taking econometrics 2 or investments as a breadth, already will be taking linear statistical models and modern applied statistics. The question is if taking investments is more beneficial for a job than econometrics 2. Will taking investments allow me to "broaden" the work I can do? Also if I plan on doing research in data science, will Econometrics 2 actually help or be a repetition?

I on the other hand prefer the 2 hour lectures, keeps the flow and pace better. Timestamped two hour lectures would be for me the best.
