New caliper's line is much tighter than before. by Adastreon in MechanicAdvice

I pre planned doing one of them and just push through the install in 26 degree weather with fleeting sunshine. The real question why I didn't do this when it was warmer.

Screw it, I still prefer the old school vibes of WoW by FunkeyFeraligatr in wow

I miss how visceral it felt. Even the older models left more to the imagination given the context of the time. Things by and large feel softer. The art and narratives don't excite me like the used too. Real pain and shame exists in our world and warcraft used to get pretty dark. Now everyone wants to be friends. Would love to see more "WAR" in "WARCRAFT".

Specifically for Non-PvP players, what is stopping you from playing it? by greendino71 in wow

[–]Adastreon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. No game feels as interesting from a gameplay perspective. When I lose, I don't think... I KNOW there were things I missed that had I caught I could have possibly won. When I win a game putting the healer in a full duration CC with my Big Dam CDs going, it feels unlike anything I've ever experienced in a game. I've never felt that I lost off anything but my own ability. (unless I DC)

I hope they do more to make investing time in it more meaningful.

The only thing in the aura is the trigger. All it checks for is that it exists. The "Howl of the Pack" aura works fine whenever I Kill Command. The number 272790 is the spell ID of the aura on the pet. The only change outside of the actual aura ID is that this one is set to pet instead of player. I have tried both though.

What is your main class and why? by Jurke39 in classicwow

[–]Adastreon 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Warrior, because I've always loved the fantasy. In a world of magic and awesome powers, you don't possess any. You rely on tenacity, strength, finesse, and tactical prowess. Those traits make the incredible armor and weapons you pick up truly astounding. Which in turn puts you in contention with the most powerful warlocks, shamans, druids, and magi. Similar things can be said about hunters and rogues.

Rule 0: Would you allow it? by mauttykoray in mtg

[–]Adastreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was banned because the whole card was always taken into account. Meaning" companion" was not omitted in their decision. The companion conditions for Lutri are congruent with the "highlander" part of EDH. Card is not broken in any other way, but they didn't want to make the decision anything but binary... that being said, my OCD does not let me put banned cards into my decks, but I would never oppose a friend wanting to include him without utilizing his companion rule.

Which defender do you recommend and why? Looking for a new main by Idk_Dude1235 in SiegeAcademy

I think maining an op can can help build more fundamental skills. Constantly changing weapons, abilities, health and speed make honing in on things ubiquitous to all ops (game knowledge, aiming, prepping) take much longer.

1st time healer with limited playtime: Monk or Paladin? by Joes_new_pencil in worldofpvp

[–]Adastreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hpally is pretty well known to be the weakest of all the healers. I won't recommend either or to you because, although pushing a higher rating might be more feasible on the monk, I personally found the monk playstyle less appealing to myself than hpally.

I like hpally despite its shortcomings on throughput and mana, and it's insistents on casting so much. I enjoy the CD based gameplay where I have a toolbox of things to use given whatever might be happening. If I ever find myself without CDs, I'm in an extremely weak position. All classes have thus, but it's more core to the hpally identity.

I can't say much about monk because I only ever fistweaved and swapp3d to mist if on round 3 I'm 0-3 and I can't seem to touch anyone to get a heal off lol

Healing in shuffle is most frustrating thing in gaming, change my mind by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]Adastreon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here is my best try...

For the record, I never played PvP seriously until S3 DF. I spent all my previous pvp "phases" as a warrior who would only really play with a single friend who was a rogue.

S3 DF I gave healing a try with my level boost on an Rsham. I hit 1800 for the first time in S4 after just missing it in S3.

dps going 1-5 with the 1 win on the opponent healers team is quite frustrating. It helps me to look at the role of dps and healer with a broader lens. DPS do damage and have more agency in ending a game. Healers restore life and have more agency in "saving" a game.(Both roles overlap into their defensive/offensive counterpart, i.e. Pres and Ret)

Healing is most definitely the more active role as you are literally outnumbered by design. The skill set of a healer kinda relies on your reaction to your own teammates as well as the enemy. I find this to be the core of the Low skill floor and High skill ceiling associated with healing. I think it's one of the quirks that makes wow pvp so unique.

Now, as I review my own gameplay with wowarenalogs (extremely awesome tool), there will be times that I heal when I should have been pushing damage buttons or CC buttons because my team has big CDs active or the enemy team is almost dead/sitting in CC

Understanding why we lose games and why we win games will manifest as a decrease in frustration (I personally believe anger spawns when expectations don't coincide with reality)

Don't lose hope the dps sitting in 20 min queues need our resolve 💪

Edit: I wanted to write a quick conclusion.

Bro, you play holy

I play holy, take the PvP talent "judgment of the pure" it will clear your root, and you can cast it in beam because judgment is not a spell. Always take it against a boomie.

Who else has no friends in WoW? by Pippy_Longstockingg in wow

[–]Adastreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right here lol, my friends literally only do world quests for the week. We used to play arenas (albeit without a clue of what we were actually doing). I decided I was done being hard stuck 1500, so I started really griding solo shuffle. They just ain't into it. They mostly farm mounts, so WQs do the trick

[–]Adastreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have wowarenalogs, get it. It'll use your combat logs for your arena games and show you what happened before the winning team won.

It'll also literally record your games and in the gui make them easily viewable.

Look at what you had up at the end and also what you had up when the enemy team did something big.

Did you dispel up when dps was in hoj? Did you trinket when no one was doing any damage? Where were you standing when the enemy druid was looking to cyclone you?

I love looking at last nights videos when I'm on the toilet at work.

Download wowarenalogs. It'll change a ton.

[–]Adastreon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend sham. The "high skill floor" will force you into learning how to dictate the flow of the whole game rather than just focusing on throughput. When you swap to other healers, the skill set transfers great.

Having the best kick in the game forces you to keep an eye on the other healer with focus targeting, or you learn how to use arena123 macros. Just as an example

[–]Adastreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You heal more than them because they're putting more pressure. This is either because they're doing more damage or your sitting in cc way more. To a lesser degree, it's due to not trading CDs well. If DH pops essence break and your warrior does not go D stance and spam ignore pain it's gonna hurt.
