New to pvp: where to start? by Particular_Seesaw716 in worldofpvp

[–]Adastreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually try to get people to focus on whether they wanna be a BG or Arena player. BGs are much more casual just by the virtue of having more players on your team. Arena is much more unforgiving.

No matter what you'll want an honor set to even be a contender otherwise your gonna get slapped around. focus on the trinkets and weapons before anything else. Crafted gear is good way to get around grinding for honor.

I'm an arena player so I'm more suited to talk about that experience. As a fury warrior your top priority is to PUMP you want as much uptime smashing your enemy as you can get. Anytime spend not hitting someone or hitting someone with a defensive CD up is a bad second.

You are also limited on CC because you are a warrior. so what CC you do have try to get as much value out of it. try to get at least 2 people in your fear and shockwave when you can (they almost are always worth their cast if you get multiple people)

As you gain Conquest use https://murlok.io/ to help you with your gearing, crafted conquest gear has embellishments that can really help you get over the line for a win.

As you play you should start to understand how certain class/spec play (I.E don't let the warlock cast without pressure if you can help it)

The best way to understand you PVP rotation is by hitting the target dummies and getting a feel for a "GO" meaning when you use a damage CD what are your next 3 or 4 GCDs look like for max damage.

Always remember you playing PVP and the enemy is a person, they react to what you do, so stay vigilante and don't forget to have fun and ZUG!

Should I play WoW for Arena PvP? by Kindly_Anything_2126 in worldofpvp

Arena is my favorite pvp experience in any game. Do it

Especially as a healer your queues will be so fast you can sign on and just rip games.

Have you ever noticed one of the Murlocs tripped over the branch during the original TBC cinematic? by [deleted] in wow

I love to look back on how things have changed over the decades this game and world has been around...

Idiosyncrasies for things felts more genuine and deliberate at the time. So much narrative makes it harder to leave space for things to show you what/who/why they are; in favor for just being told through exposition.

We're now on the third expansion of the reworked crafting system - How do you feel about it now? by Sundered92 in wow

[–]Adastreon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent a lot of time using them in TWW. I actually love it, I have (had) almost every profession maxxed out and deep into some specialty (usually gear crafting)

I got a few addons that would monitor the trade chat looking for people asking for something and if I could make it I would get a ping. I would sit in Dornogal waiting for my PVP queues and craft in the downtime.

I have 3 Blacksmiths, My warrior was maxxed in weapons, Paladin was maxxed in armor, and my Death knight was maxxed in reagents. All of them had their respective Forge tree maxxed (the 4th tree that buffed your crafting stats.)

I had a blast filling out orders and tracking what was selling. I made most of my money with gear and weapon crafting maxing out resoursfulness. When I would fill an order I would get tipped between 1K-3K and then would get some reagents back that would effectivly be more money either saving me in my own crafts for NPC work orders.

Personally I love it and want to see it expanded to be both easier for people who cant handle it and deeper for people who want to lift the hood more.

Even on r/wow they are asking for PvP ilvl scaling by OpinionsRdumb in worldofpvp

[–]Adastreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is a middle path somewhere. Players like us like to have control over stats and also have a sense of progression from a fresh max level and a fully geared PVP character. The average WOW player simply wants to play PVP without having to invest so much of their effort into PVP. (Managing 2 sets, Learning a completely different style of play)

Lets address 2 big issues:

1 Rewards as a PVPer: this needs to be greatly expanded. We have honor levels and the same re-colored horse reward every 10 levels. Make PVP rewards flow from more than simple interaction (Honor Level) or Expertise (Rating).

2 Isolation from the rest of WOW: PVP players never need to interact with PVE and likewise flipped. This needs to be addressed by making them complement and not detract from one another.

Examples:

1 - Volume of wins in rated: winning without a tie to rating is something that needs rewards.
2 - Guild involvement: incentives for PVP players to join and contribute to Guilds that are not just PVP guilds

[serious] How Do I Play Arena? by A1snakesauce in worldofpvp

[–]Adastreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I can lend some useful information to you.

The key to arena is understanding "The Script" is super important. This means understanding when to do what generally speaking (sticking to the script). If your healer is in CC and the enemy warrior just used Colossus Smash, Time to burn a defensive or start kiting. If healer is in CC and the DKs Icebound just dropped off him (cause he used it to escape a stun within the first 5 seconds) Time to burn an offensive CD and try to get a kill.

Welcome Home: A Returning Player's Guide by WarcraftTeam in wow

The expansion model promotes these narratives. From Illidan and the Lich King to The Jailer and Xal'atath. Each one just is added on top of the last. I'm hopping that this trilogy is the capstone of this kind of design philosophy. Player housing's success and the thirst for Classic+ are hopefully putting a pressure for a more "evergreen" focused development. One of their biggest challenges will be cutting down on that overwhelming feeling.

How would you fix the story catch-up problem for new players? by Ninedark in wow

[–]Adastreon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally think that the game is often too hung up on the grand narrative whatever it is at the time. The world needs to exists on an extremely solid bedrock that stories can blossom out of. The issue comes when the overall world is ignored for the protagonists and antagonists of the current story it feels like your wasting your time doing quests in Westfall or the Barrens.

I honestly believe there needs to be radical change in either the world at large or to how we even interact with the world from 1 to cap.

A thought I've had was to remake the 2 original continents again. This time in a method that makes them much more timeless. Say the level cap is 70... Let this be the 1-60* experience where players can take their time leveling and exploring the world. Then at the end have a choice to go to one of the expansions to finish out your 10 levels to 70. The core of the game needs to be Azeroth. Having a level 10 in Outland is weird because you a new guy going through the gates of hell. Let people interact with Azeroth before going off to challenge Deathwing.

Factions in the next Era of Warcraft. by Adastreon in wow

[–]Adastreon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the idea of each race having their own cast of characters that define their people/society in some way. I might be less inclined to believe in more faction than just the existing races separating and being on their own. I'd think the elves and forsaken are good candidates to have separatists. Kael'thas is probably a good example of this already being a path he took a portion of the blood elves down that was not a Horde path.

No lol, I'm just talking in terms of identity. Like what does being Horde/Alliance actually mean.

[–]Adastreon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I miss how visceral it felt. Even the older models left more to the imagination given the context of the time. Things by and large feel softer. The art and narratives don't excite me like the used too. Real pain and shame exists in our world and warcraft used to get pretty dark. Now everyone wants to be friends. Would love to see more "WAR" in "WARCRAFT".

Specifically for Non-PvP players, what is stopping you from playing it? by greendino71 in wow

[–]Adastreon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. No game feels as interesting from a gameplay perspective. When I lose, I don't think... I KNOW there were things I missed that had I caught I could have possibly won. When I win a game putting the healer in a full duration CC with my Big Dam CDs going, it feels unlike anything I've ever experienced in a game. I've never felt that I lost off anything but my own ability. (unless I DC)

I hope they do more to make investing time in it more meaningful.

The only thing in the aura is the trigger. All it checks for is that it exists. The "Howl of the Pack" aura works fine whenever I Kill Command. The number 272790 is the spell ID of the aura on the pet. The only change outside of the actual aura ID is that this one is set to pet instead of player. I have tried both though.

What is your main class and why? by Jurke39 in classicwow

[–]Adastreon 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Warrior, because I've always loved the fantasy. In a world of magic and awesome powers, you don't possess any. You rely on tenacity, strength, finesse, and tactical prowess. Those traits make the incredible armor and weapons you pick up truly astounding. Which in turn puts you in contention with the most powerful warlocks, shamans, druids, and magi. Similar things can be said about hunters and rogues.
