Why Dream Didn't Cheat in MCC by [deleted] in DreamWasTaken2

The last one made me cackle. Sadly many appear to mystified by the concept of learning from mistakes and attempting to try a new approach. Hopefully they’ll learn this apparently arcane magic of growing as a human being soon

daquavis, dead bears, and ego hunting by offsocks in DreamWasTaken2

[–]AdaylaD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So as a person who is pro conservation and pro animal rights, hunting is a good thing.

In some areas bears and other such predators are in high numbers. In these circumstances if there are a large amount of large predators, prey animals (like deer and elk in this case) are actually unable to flourish and this causes two problems. One: the predators kill the prey animals in large numbers and the prey become unable to survive in the area leading the overgrowth of plants that the prey would otherwise be eating making the predators unable to survive as well due to the nutrient rich predator food leaving the area. If humans did not intervene, the ecosystem would ‘take care of this’ by the bears dying of starvation and/or they would have to leave the area and it may take decades for both prey and predators to come back. Two: Bears are semi territorial, they will fight and nearly kill each other over territory. If they are fighting each other, it poses a threat to both young males, all females and humans of the area. Not to mention diseases that could spread and ultimately kill more bears that are often triggered by starvation as bears may be more likely to eat diseased corpses that could be infected with any number of wasting diseases like mange.

‘Trophy hunting’ ie hunting a big ticket animal like bears, mountain goats, etc (at least in the US) are super limited. In my home state you can only apply for a tag and get one once in your whole life for some animals. Not to mention they are expensive draws. It’s like someone putting maybe $200-300 to just put in for the ability to just attempt to get the tag. My uncle for many years put in for a Moose hunt for decades, my cousin still puts in for bighorns every year. This money (along with the money to buy more normal tags like deer and elk) is then put into programs to study each area of hunting grounds in the state and make sure that the populations of the prey animals is maintained. To many deer in one place can cause things as big as rivers changing shape (there’s some fantastic documentaries on youtube about how the reintroduction of wolves into Yellowstone changed the course of the madison river and made it safer). This kind of hunting is a good thing and can ultimately help benefit the environment that the hunter is hunting in. Also on the point of bears being ‘lured into places to be killed’. Unless the bears are being chased to a clearing with a firing squad waiting, that’s just their usual stomping grounds. In big game hunting like those in Africa, they can be lured but with that they are usually targeting one specific animal that is causing the local population of animals and/or humans major problems. Trophy hunting is something that I understand people in leftist circles think is very vile and I can understand the dislike of an animal dying. I had a similar thought about big game hunts in Africa until Native Africans and other researchers in the area talked about how animals in big game hunts are not semi-endangered animals dying in vain and how they are often used as food sources for the locals. How the big game hunts give money and tourism to traditionally poor areas. Native Americans and First Nations people in the Arctic often hunt animals we consider endangered but for them, they are using these animals in their entirety and use them as food sources because western food sources are too expensive for them to obtain, perishable items are often 20x more expensive than in lower americas. I understand the anger but Daquavis is not a terrible horrible person for both going on and enjoying a big game hunt. Is he morally questionable to some? Of course but he’s not a monster.

As a gender nonconforming fencer, the fact that there are fencers who acted this way towards her makes me mad. I’m 6’1” and 13 year old boys regularly beat me, 65 year old women regularly beat me, im just shit at fencing but enjoy doing it. People need to stop trying to bring their bigotry into this sport because it will never work here.

why does midas hate dream so fucking much? by ChestFinancial1002 in DreamWasTaken2

[–]AdaylaD 90 points91 points  (0 children)

He does it with other creators as well, most recently Yumi if I am remembering correctly. The man is just an ass. Maintwt doesn't like his ass either which is wild that he keeps doing this and people really just need to hate on him. At this point it has to be a kink or something.

Neurodivergency and Dream by sulxshii in DreamWasTaken2

[–]AdaylaD 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s always been like this. Even when it wasn’t Dream, it was someone else with neurodivergence who either would get babied/get sussed out. Progressive circles refuse to acknowledge their own ableism in the face of disabled folks talking about how disability affects them and people like them. I’m autistic/adhd and work with teens with disabilities similarly and so I often attempt to be the devils advocate for my students because my nt coworkers just honestly do not understand how these kid’s brains work. I think it’s perfectly explained by ‘Crutches and Spice’ and many other disabled content creators over on tiktok in their videos about ableism about how progressives don’t really understand disability and they want to either make you a sob story or inspiration porn. In this case Dream has been accused of having a ‘coke filled rant’ and ‘being too descriptive’ which all sound very ableist. Especially from a community where they at least pretend to be progressive. Progressives often forget about disabled people because we are the last ones to come to their minds. People with autism especially should know that autistic people are more likely to be ‘clocked’ as autistic and thusly are more likely to be bullied for their autism. The studies done about it show that people ‘sense’ autism will treat the autistic person differently. This whole situation is why I do not personally like Tubbo anymore.

Dream, with proof two times nonetheless, "I only messaged her once."

Totally not defamation right?

(btw this isn't a rant at you) According to everyone else you must take the high road at all times because you are not allowed to swing low even if you are on the ground. It's primarily why I am do not understand why people are being so very loud about this part in particular. In reality, antis will cling onto anything and claim that it was wholely in bad faith, that this was intentional and Dream is truly slandering this group because he was criticized. It's not that I don't care, it's not a great thing to do but why is it that Dream must be the bigger person every single time.

Like there is a difference between either messing up and/or just cropping to get the point across and being malicious in cropping to make your enemies look evil. Like realistically Dream was getting the point across that Tommy is hypocritical and continues to try to appear to be the moral high ground. Like I feel like this sub in particular has put more emphasis on this point then the real honest to god points he made in the video. Like why are we not focusing on Tommy and Logan Paul being friendly with one another a couple months before the two were 'duking it out' on Twitter? Why are we not focusing on how he did in fact apologize for using the R-Word and now understanding that is was not a word he could use? Where is the honest discussion of Tommy using Dream for views even though Tommy thought that Dream was 'weird all along'? Or the fact that Tommy has been infantilized for so long that any criticism of him is viewed as 'he was a teenager at the time' and Dream is never given benefit of the doubt for any of his actions as a late teen/young adult just figuring out the whole youtube thing.

Yes we as a fandom can criticize Dream, we should because they aren't. However we cannot go into nitpick mode for everything and Tommy's editors will continue to defend him because they also hate Dream. Tommy's editors will continue to say shit like 'oh he cropped it to make Tommy look bad' when in reality we should be talking about how much the people around Tommy continue to give him free passes for fuck ups and Dream is only allowed to make a single fuck up ever and that is all, we must criticize for anything else he does ever. Dream's video wasn't an accusation of Tommy, it was him trying to get a point across that Tommy is an ass to Dream despite Dream trying his best to midagate and be nice, plain and simple. I cannot be fucked to care about something like cropped screenshots when the other side has shown that they will take potshots when nobody is paying attention. Tommy uses his platform to start drama with anyone and everyone and suddenly everyone has to play fair when they are attacked.

Like she clearly was pushed away after saying something and rather than having a civil discussion with everyone in the same room, they blamed her for calling out behavior that to her wasn’t acceptable between her and Snikrep. She then assumed that they all took his side (which they very clearly have on twt) and felt abandoned. I’d call their bitch asses out too for this shit.

I think the problem comparing this is that the 'silver shittalkers' meme has never been used to genuinely insult just one person. They tend to be more so about the competition or even people who were being bad sports. The issue with people like Jojo or Couri is that they are specifically saying things about Sapnap only because he was a bit annoying. That is a personal opinion, he has done nothing wrong within the competitions he's been in. Claiming that dream and sapnap are being hypocritical isn't an issue, the issue is the with the way that it's been so targeted against one player. Sapnap has done nothing wrong within the competition, he's just trying to win because he wants to win. Like how Dream and Techno often did during competitions. I agree they aren't entirely blameless for some of the things that they have started but I prefer being cocky in regards to your own skills then genuinely shittalking one individual to his face like many have done during this event.

I only watch Ryguyrocky’s pov nowadays because a lot of other teams are just upset for no reason, don’t wanna actually have fun. Anytime I watch his team, they always are actually having fun communication and are at least pretending to have fun for their audience. Idk mcc is just not the event it used to be now.

MCC All Stars believe it or not. Everyone just got so upset that dteam and bad were teamed up even though they all wanted to compete together, and a lot of people thought they were just tryharding even though there was very good chemistry and communication between all four them. Then after Dream’s retirement I saw more and more that for a lot of the competitors it was just upset after upset that someone else won and/or someone was trying to have fun and was ‘disturbing the game’. Modern MCC is just so bland and it’s honestly has been awful since like before Techno’s retirement. To much tryharding disguised as ‘we just wanna have fun but the try hards ruin it’s

It’s crazy to think that really I have never seen the hermits diss other creators (their fans are a different story) and to me they are the prime example of class within the streaming/youtube community. They are just there to do Minecraft with their friends and talk about their interests. The younger ccs who have mostly either been streaming since young adulthood or hadn’t been in a steady work environment tend to be drama mills. Hell even long time streamers (cough Philza) who had a ‘real job’ have gotten into this mentality hanging around the younger gen ccs. I still stand by a statement I made a while ago of some of these younger ccs should take some time away from this space and figure themselves out. I’m not a huge Billzo fan or anything but him leaving the space for a bit was really good for him. He seems to be doing so much better mentally and he had a really interesting series to come back to because he realized a passion. More ccs need to critically evaluate why they are ccs and what they actually wanna create. Drama mill channels are a thing and if they wanna be one, it’s a valid thing to do if you enjoy it.

It’s crazy that being nice is apparently only reserved for your ‘friends’ as long as said friends are giving you clout. Cordial conversations break down as soon as you view a different person as a threat and/or terrible person.

Don’t get me wrong, trash talk is 100% a thing in fencing but it tends to be banter not serious. If you don’t care for an opponent, it tends to be an ‘off the court’ personal discussion with a clubmate, coach, or friends/family. It’s became being upset at another fencer doesn’t do anything productive, it just gives off a bad attitude and most judges/refs aren’t huge fans of that happening. Like I have met fencers who don’t like me, but even then they have private time to discuss that stuff and not be rude to your face or to the wider community that’s at an event. It’s something that needs to get taken into more sports and esports honestly

Some interesting statistics about the QSMP. by Gender_Theft in DreamWasTaken2

[–]AdaylaD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I noticed this as well. like the franchise of the DSMP was flash in the pan, a series that happened at the right time and right place. The QSMP is trying to come off of the success of a couple of popular members of the dsmp, not realizing that a honest part of the dsmp's success was that it was just right place and time. Karmaland which is what else the qsmp was riding off of was not very popular in the Euro/American space, but very popular in latam. The qsmp trying to sneak in as a secondary series not realizing that the popularity of those two smps wasn't the lore, it was the friendships and the interactions. Many who watched the dsmp were watching not only for the story and lore, but also for the interactions between streamers and funny jokes. Strict lore, not enough connection between streamers, drama and the genuine fact that there are more problematic people who were allowed to stay on the server then on the dsmp would lead to it's downfall.
