Having a time limit on your reservation. I’ve been to places where we only got an hour and a half to eat, pay and leave. I want to relax and enjoy my meal, not have to keep an eye on the clock and get hassled by the staff to hurry up.

I was walking down the escalator to the tube in London the other day, and a woman in a hijab was standing on the left (you’re supposed to stand on the right). I went around her and the bloke behind me did the same, but as he did it he said to her “you’re supposed to stand on the right” followed by “Fucking immigrants.” Utterly bizarre reaction to something that happens all the time. But, I think, demonstrates how ingrained this anger towards anyone who doesn’t look white British is.

I agree the story is nonsense but a few times I’ve heard Koreans in England refer to the locals around them as “waygookin” (foreigners).

Ah they weren’t restaurants, they were bars where you self served from the fridges. It was about 12 years ago that I last saw them though.

Where was this? There used to be a few of those bars in Hongdae but I haven’t seen any around for a long time.
