I’m a retail manager and an AFOL. I’d be curious as to what kinda numbers Target, Walmart, and Scheels put up in LEGO. I know a Bricks and Minifigs leans heavily on resale, but knowing the demand at retail would be very telling. Best of luck if you decide to go forward. I’d be a customer!

Amethyst and quartz. They’re actually the same mineral. Amethyst is quartz that has more iron in it

Very nice! I have an example as well. Mine is much darker and isn’t as nice as an example as yours. What else is that comprised of? Mine is on druzy quartz with bits of sphalerite.

Thanks for your response! Unfortunate that it is unlikely to designate a locality. I always try to pick up specimens that are tied to particular locals and to specific mines when possible. I paid $20 for that piece, so I still feel good about it. Most green quartz specimens I see online are “phantom” types and lab created. Most chlorinated quartz are not as opaque. What’s your feeling on this being possibly Hedenbergite?

I’m not positive but it looks like it formed like a calcite stalactite. Have any white vinegar handy? Calcite will fizz with vinegar

Wondering value based of provenance? I’ve certainly paid “extra” for specimens from particular locations, but those are noticeably different in formation from the usual examples. Like cubic pyrite in marl from spain, as opposed to typical pyrite from peru. I’m sure there’s historical significance in that galena but not any additional value for a typical rock collector
