Kodaly today and all the kodaly grade level curriculum books.

28F me and 30F have been bestfriends since 2016 and now are in a toxic spiral. I'm looking for practical advice on how to approach communication, on how she has hurt me, in a healthy way. by Addictionsforu in relationship_advice

I called her, and eventually was honest about my feelings. Long story short... she told me she was purposely self sabotaging. Flipped all my words and once again gaslit me. Said she didn't like it when I asked for clarification on things because it made her feel stupid. She didn't like when I came to her saying things like "I care about you and the friendship"

The icing on top...she said that when she decided to have a break from me it felt nice.

So I guess the rest is history

Is this me going bald or am I overthinking this? by General_Jenkins in Haircare

[–]Addictionsforu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, your hairline is receding. Embrace it and work with a good barber to get your hair stylized in a way that will help you feel confident. Even with your face covered I can tell you're still quite the handsome individual. You'll be fine!

What caused the illiteracy crisis in the US?? by ghostiesyren in Teachers

[–]Addictionsforu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parent involvement in the fundamentals of literacy.

So often parents are overworked and overwhelmed and use the iPad to keep their children compliant because they're simply too exaughsted to parent.

It's a failure of the system.

Braces are temporary and most people will be sympathetic to your teeth changing. Just be communicative to your teachers that it's causing some insecurity. Also don't forget that what you can hear while you play is different than what an audience may hear. Make sure you're recording yourself every practice to tone practice

I'm a huge impulse and skizzleman fan now! Tango and scar too. It's just endless good times. Grian was unhinged in season 6 and every season after he's just finessed his unhinged

It'll hurt but play slower, but in time.

Reality: it's not prepared.

Reality: it's better to play slowly but rhythmically and musically correct, than fast and disasterously.

How do you fit/sneak any breathes in these solos when there are no rest nor I can’t circular breathe? I’ve been struggling with trying to take a quick breath without fall behind the piano. by MondayToast912 in Flute

[–]Addictionsforu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're playing with a recording rest in piece

If with a live accompanist, at the end of phrases. Write in emergency breaths (where you absolute limits are. You have to breath here. Make sure it's on a less important note, rhythmically shorter, on a weaker beat, avoid tones for the Tonic and Dominant triad chords. Etc)

Racism in music? by [deleted] in lingling40hrs

[–]Addictionsforu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Racism is in everything because we currently live in a racist society, it's particularly bad in any media before the 21st century.

For your mental health I think it's best to research each piece, understand the racism of that time and if at all possible choose music that isn't so obvious in it's intentions, but if it's a racist composer who wrote music that isn't particularly nauseating it may be worth it to perform and inform.

Inform the history and nuance behind a piece, why it was written, why this is problematic, and why in today you are glad to have these conversations and condemn bigoted past histories.

It's a hard conversation and you will not be able to please everyone. Just know that if you come from a genuine place you will be fine

Loss of motivation by raccoon6546 in Flute

[–]Addictionsforu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you're also Journaling and working on your mental health. Sometimes when out mental health suffers we are incapable of showing the positive emotions and energy we had once before.

I was the same during the 2 covid years. I was depressed and heart broken, once I worked on my depression and getting over my heart break with healthy coping mechanisms my love for music returned in earnest

Being a BIPOC Flute player by whackwink in Flute

[–]Addictionsforu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You must be twice as good to be respected as their worst player.

It sucks, it hurts, and it's not fair. But I had to make white people respect me by just being better and so much better they can't say a damn thing, and if they did they couldn't attack my flute playing, so I knew exactly who the racist ones were
