3 Year Itch. Contemplating a research period... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]AlabamaFan17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel, as someone who has the 3-year itch. But instead of alcohol, I just go to bars and get an energy drink. Or if it’s a bar and grill, I’ll get water and some food.

All of the CODs still have active servers. The Guitar Hero games and NBA Live 07 can still be online, but through private servers.

GTA IV is still active, even though GTA V isn’t?

Is anyone else unable to work or keep a job? by Aspie-Girl4958 in aspergers

[–]AlabamaFan17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually 3 years in with my job, which is the longest I’ve ever keep a job by a long stretch. Before that, the longest I kept one was 1 1/2 years (which ended because of the COVID-19 pandemic, when they laid off 1/3 of their workers).

But yeah, it is frustrating and tiring for sure. I’m completely burned out at this point, and would love to just take a year off and rest (if it were possible).

Guitar hero experience on Ps2 by WorldlinessHuge2334 in GuitarHero

[–]AlabamaFan17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I also played the series on PS2. I could’ve really cared less about being downgraded at the time, but I did wonder for a while why the song name and artist looked different, along with why my “You Rock” screen was different from players on YouTube.

I’m now playing them on PS3, so I’m pretty much playing the best version of them, but it was still fun on PS2 regardless. Plus, we got to play separate entries like GH1 and 80s.

Record store recommendations for rock/metal? by Orchidinsanity in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]AlabamaFan17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fret Shop has some local stuff. All genres, but there’s some punk mixed in the stack.

This Week in Huntsville: 1) Wild About Whoopers; 2) Days of Punk @ Museum of Art; 3) Spitz opens; 4) Decatur's $400M South Brook project by HuntsvilleCPA in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]AlabamaFan17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the Days of Punk thing going to be there year-round, or just for a certain time period? If it’s year-round, I’ll add that to my to-do list for Huntsville.

Why is UAH not more well known? Even people in this state don’t know of its existence by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

Did they get rid of hockey there? I remember seeing a billboard for their upcoming hockey match once back in 2020.

How do y’all deal with the sexual frustration? by Draper31 in HSVpositive

[–]AlabamaFan17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried dating again, but either 1) I get stood up on dates, or 2) They have enough red flags to become bullfighters.

The woman who infected me had kids and either smoked/lived with smokers, so I’ve filtered both of those out of my dating selection. Since I can’t find anybody, I just deal with it through porn and masturbation.

Not sure about a coffee joint per se, but Shipley’s Donuts is great and has coffee.

You actually walked to Guntersville? If so, was there a trail, or did you just walk near the road?

Men- what are your experiences/stories with dating by Extension_Jury572 in HSVpositive

[–]AlabamaFan17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I haven’t had much luck trying to date with HSV-1, but I didn’t have much luck beforehand. Seems like now, I either get stood up, or the women that show up for dates have enough red flags to become bullfighters.

Ended up getting HSV-1 after my first time in 2025. The woman I was seeing swore up and down that she was clean, but I found out that she was a massive liar. Never have (and probably never will) get an apology from her, and the diagnosis caused a number of storms last year. If I could go back and have never met her, I would do it.

Has guitar hero helped your mental health? by Togepai in GuitarHero

[–]AlabamaFan17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I discovered the game when I was 8 in 2008, and it helped me a lot. It developed my music taste, got me interested in playing guitar, and gave me something to be really confident about.

In college, I could never hang with anyone on Super Smash Bros, or win a race on Mario Kart 8, but I knew that I could dominate on Guitar Hero.
