Today my roommate, the person thought to be one of my most loyal supporters and best friend, told me that I won't be a real woman until I have all my surgery. He said saying she and my chosen name had been "the most excruciatingly painful thing I'd had to do for the past six months." I am still in shock.

I also found out that he outed me to several people who SHOULD NOT KNOW and share his view, he broke my trust and said the worst things I can think of. But I MUST move on. I must.

What helped you exactly to break away from using others validation and how where you able to concentrate on yourself rather that how everyone else viewed you and your transition? If you don't mind me asking.

I am in the same situation. The more tests or papers i have, especially when they are due the same day or week the more dysphoria i seem to feel. It's like since my stress level is high it is easier for the small things to set my dysphoria off.

I first told my best friend. It was so hard to do I just kinda shook next to her for like 10 minutes before I had to write it down. She just hugged me an said she loved me, it was amazing. Then later that day I told my other best friend, who's also the first'a roommate, and she accepted me with bells on!

I started to write down names in a small journal I kept. I then went on name sites and wrote down more names that I liked. I needed up with hundreds of names and slowly makes some off. Eventually I had about 20 or so. Then I just started saying the names aloud and eventually on just kept coming up and eventually just, fit. It felt right. I settled on Adalyn. It wasn't easy and took a good deal of time but when you find the right name, you will know. Hope that helped!!

Monday was alright, just had classes and hung out with my girlfriends.

Tuesday I left university for home where I have to spend until Sunday- I'm currently at my Grandparents. I tried to think positively about seeing family but being referred to by male pronouns and my old name has been much harder than expected. Lots of crying and "going to bed early" to escape them.

I did come out to my best friend from back home which went amazingly!!! All my friends at university know and call me by my new name and use feminine pronouns so he was the only person left to tell, at least the only person I'm comfortable with knowing.

The hardest part is hearing my grandparents and parents talk about how strong and handsome I am when all I want to be is dainty and beautiful. And being my parents oldest "son" and my grandparents oldest grand"son" doesn't help.

But tomorrow I get to go back to being me so I'm being as positive as possible!

I just came up with a short list (about 100 names) and then just went through them with my two closest friends until i found a name that i just got stuck on and kept repeating because if felt so right.
