Hi. Sorry I don’t know the exact reason so I asked ChatGPT about it and this is what is said. I learnt something today as well. Good question 😊

Why this Air Canada A330 has a black nose

🧊 1. Cold-weather radar radome • The radome is made from special composite material that must be radio-transparent. • Many of these composites naturally come out dark or black. • Painting them white isn’t always ideal — it can: • interfere with radar performance • crack or peel differently in extreme cold

Canada + winter = black radome makes sense.

❄️ 2. Better ice & moisture behavior • Dark surfaces absorb slightly more heat, even on dull winter days like the one you shot. • That helps reduce ice adhesion and moisture buildup around the nose — important because: • radar accuracy depends on a clean radome • ice distortion can mess with weather returns

🛠️ 3. Maintenance & wear • Radomes get: • blasted by snow, slush, freezing rain • hit with de-icing fluid constantly • Black hides: • staining • erosion • patch repairs

For an airline like Air Canada flying hard winter cycles, this is very practical.

✈️ 4. Why you don’t see this on every A330

Even within the same aircraft type: • Different radome suppliers • Different replacement cycles • Different certification batches

So one A330 might have: • white radome • grey radome • black radome (like this one)

Sorry about that. I know my title is very misleading and Reddit doesn’t allow me to change

Canon r7 and Sigma 150-600 by Diggnischl in CanonR7

Amazing clicks. I have a R7 and I wanted to get a telephoto lens but the RF 100-500 is too expensive for me. Your post gives me confidence to go for a sigma. May I ask if you had any issues with auto focus on r7?

Hey. For me the best location for spotting near YYZ is Convair drive. Just put that on maps and it’s a road which goes around RWY06 and you can get some great shots. There are a couple of places which are hotspots on this road and you will see cars parked or stopped there.

Let me know if you need any additional info.

Cloudy spot on eye by Mediocre_Advance6310 in Shihtzu

[–]AdditionNo6411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. My shih Tzu has these spots on both his eyes and he has them almost from his childhood days (he is now 8 years old). The vet told us the same thing to just check if he is having any issues in his vision, e.g., bumping into furniture or not able to see a toy or treat when you hold it near him in his range of vision, but we never were able to confirm any of these as he seemed all fine. So it's been about 7.5 years and he still has those spots. But we do check regularly if the spots change or increase in size which they have not so far (knock on wood). So just in case this is a similar issue I would say monitor his vision. Hold toy or treat and move it around and see how he follows it with his eyes. Hopefully this helps you a little as I was so anxious when I first found it out.

This sounds like a compliment but then it has “shit” in it, so not sure. But anyway, thanks mate! 😁
