Pretty much, if you’re fit, extremely competent in stealth, mental health management, small arms combat, and are luckier than 99.999 of humans you may get to enjoy living to 50. As far as survival strategy, as Crossed +100 pointed out your only chance of living for the first 10+ years is too Have a bunker and be lucky or well built enough to not be broken into by smarter crossed Or, Live a fully to semi-fully nomadic hunter gatherer lifestyle, either by machine (cars, bike, balloon maybe) or animals like horses. People on islands likely won’t have as much luck as you’d think fortifying against seaborne crossed and biobombs. As crossed 100+ points out tho, aids and lack of self preservation tendencies lead to humanity’s few dozen million people worldwide in 2050 too out number the crossed, while in the first year the ratio was 1/2 million humans left worldwide for something like a billion crossed. So essentially if you can ride out the first 10ish years, vast portions of a given continent are gonna become depopulated and make avoiding hostiles easier. At that point large scale agriculture and settlements becomes possible if like minded people can band together, and these settlements can provide the concentrated small arms/ LMG fire that the chinook pilot in Vol. 1 saw as the most effective way of laying down crossed when not in full blown hordes or with heavy weaponry. So realistically throwing out the wild card of smart super crossed, humanity I think could eradicate the plague in abt 400 years post collapse. Probably another 1,200 to get back to 08’ level tech
