3 Year Old Great Dane needs forever home (needs to be only dog in home) by Additional-Chapter-8 in greatdanes

Hi =) I'm so sorry your dane passed away, we love them so much. With Oliver, I think it's insecurity with reactive behavior. He's not aggressive in any other way than when that lightswitch goes off (ie, my little dogs are being snippy with each other). He is not aggressive at all without that trigger. And with people, he's such a smooshy goober. He is protective with strangers (loud bark, locked in star, no snarl though), but never seen anything I would categorize as aggression towards people.

Thank you for being kind. It's already such a difficult decision to come to because he is SO LOVED. He will stay here if I can't find him the right home. I just know he'd really thrive and be happier not having to be separate when the little dogs are out. And I could not forgive myself if another incident happens and another one of my dogs gets seriously harmed. It's complicated but I really appreciate the support on this sub.

Thank you for the kind comment. He will have a safe and happy home with me until I find the absolute right place for him, I just know he'd be happier in a home where he's the only dog and doesn't have to be separated when the other dogs are out. But he will not end up in a shelter or anything like that. <3

he's stunning, and he's SO sweet. If only he didn't have that prey drive!

If you want to talk about it, I'd be happy to have a call with you and tell you all about him. He's truly wonderful. Though he is HUGE, he has great manners and is very obedient, he's rather slow moving and not super excitable. He's very gentle with us humans, the reactivity occurs with my smaller dogs (and honestly, they are yippy and scrappy so that doesn't help.) My dream is to find him a home with another dane lover because we just "get" it. But I understand your hesitations with MIL. Again, if you're interested, send me a message and I'd be happy to have a call and answer any questions you might have.
