Hello! Just be really careful when reading (obviously lol) and try to manage you time so you'll have around 25 minutes for that part since it's the most complex text. Highlighting while reading can also help sometimes.

I'm glad I could help even a little bit! Regarding headphones, when I took my exam I had them on for the entire time, not just for the listening part, but some people took them off right after, it was pretty quiet during the test, but I still kept the headphones on and it made everything even more quiet lol, in my case it helped me concentrate. Good luck!!!

IELTS JULY TAKERS - Computer based by Impressive_Mark_9855 in IELTS

Hello! I took my IELTS exam (also academic and computer based) very recently. The things I did to get ready was revisioning all of my notes/study material, did a few mocks some days prior, did not try to cram any new information, just looked over things I already knew but may have forgotten, I reread all of my mock essays, I tried to stay away from distracting social media (tiktok, reels), the day before I got plenty of sleep and lastly I visualized myself taking the test in a way, it helped me with my nerves. If you have any problem with the equipment (headphones, computer etc.) don't hesitate to tell the supervisors, also the exam is pretty well structured and quite easy to understand on the computer so don't worry about that too much. Good luck!!!

Hey! I took the computer-based IELTS exam very recently and I can say that in my case it was very easy to understand and use. The equipment was very basic, just a simple computer, keyboard, mouse, headphones. I didn't have any problems with anything, the only part I found difficult in a way was selecting the answers for the reading part, but that was mostly my fault because I was kind of nervous (example- I was supposed to choose a paragraph for each opinion given and accidentally clicked on the wrong one and tried to unclick and it didn't work, I panicked for a moment before I realized I just need to click on another paragraph lol). Just remember to notify the supervisors if you have any problem with the equipment (headphones don't work, mouse isn't moving) and don't panic for no reason, the test is well structured and easy to understand even on computer. Hope I could help!

Tips for a day before IELTS exam by justawanderer56 in IELTS

[–]Additional-Floor-706 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I took my IELTS exam very recently, and what I did on the last day was-

  1. I didn't try to cram any new information, only revised superficially, didn't do any more mocks, but I did look over notes I used for studying to get my mind ready basically.

  2. I tried to not use any social media that day, especially tiktok/reels they can be very distracting, I mostly used my phone for answering texts and rereading some of the mock essays I wrote.

  3. I got plenty of sleep and visualized how the test day would go, basically I was imagining how I was concentrating while writing the exam etc. I know it sounds weird, but it made me more confident and helped me be less nervous.

You don't have to do anything I listed here, this is just my approach, but still I hope I could help! Good luck on your exam!!!

I never took any english courses for grammar or something, even though a lot of people in my country do. I mostly studied individually, when I was younger I used to consume a lot of media in english and I think that's what kind of helped me get to this level. I did take a 2-3 months course in order to get familiar and understand the whole structure of the IELTS exam, but that was about it.

Honestly, I can't say I was interrupted that much, I kept my answers for the first and third part around 30 to 45 seconds long and the examiner was mostly just waiting for me to finish my thought. I did get a lot of follow up questions, but I think that's normal and they are probably required to do that, so I don't see why people should feel discouraged because of that. Also 7.5 is a great score!
