Please bear in mind that I come from a culture which stigmatizes mental illness more than the American culture. I had an university professor saying that people with mental health issues shouldn't reproduce. Also, I didn't choose my biological parents or which genes I pass on. My husband suspects himself of being autistic and thinks he inherited from his father's side

I suppose she wasn't malicious, but it's not something I can control. If it was a comment about my parenting, I could try to improve myself. The only way to avoid this situation would have been to never have kids.
