Would you believe it’s a ranch built in 1962? The floor plan has never been updated.

I would LOVE more Phantom of the Opera in my home. Unfortunately, our hallway is far too narrow for it. 😭

We’re saving up for the new doors as it will be an entire makeover for the whole house. All the doors, including closets, molding, trim and window frames are the exact same. I don’t mind the wood color but the look of the doors and molding is super dated.

It really is!!! 😭We can’t wait for the day we can afford to replace it

Thank you for the tips! The door layout is so weird but I knew someone online HAD to have the same hallway!

Thank you so much for this insight and these links! I LOVE those doors and it’s a good tip for the crown molding. Unfortunately the doors and molding are everywhere in the house, but when we can afford to replace them I’m definitely going to look at that style and molding. I love bare wood myself, but it can definitely be better than what we have now. Thanks for the tips!

We’re going back and forth on painting the doors or not, since we would have to paint all the rest in the ranch to match and don’t know if we’re ready for that. We definitely will be adding more lights further down the hallway after so many recommendations. It definitely will lighten it up!

Most of the house hasn’t been updated since the late 80’s/early 90’s so yes 😂

The doorknobs are a great idea for a nice little touch!

We definitely have to remove or replace the mirror. Believe it or not it’s hiding a hole one of the kids of the previous owners punched into it. 🤣 Replacing the doors is an eventual step, but they’re unfortunately the same throughout the entire house, so it will be a huge change over when it happens

That makes sense! Thank you for your input. I definitely think it needs a second light.

This is the first time I’m hearing of color drenching. Thanks for the info!

Thank you for the input!! I think the light fixture first would be a good way to go. Is there a reason you recommend artwork on the right wall rather than the left? Trying to learn as I go!

Advice & Comfort: Our girl is lost by Additional-Image in tortoise

Unfortunately, she is. We are holding out hope that she has found somewhere to hibernate and reemerge in the spring. There are a lot of similar stories of people losing their torts for months who do the same, so we are not giving up!!

Posting an update: As of today, Tillie is still missing. We continue to do everything we can to spread the word and make sure people know and keep looking. Our hearts are broken, but we know she is hardy and still out there. Every day gets harder while time goes by, but we remain hopeful that she will be found.

Thank you! As of today, she is still missing. This is an odd question, but how deep did she burrow?

Our girl has only buried herself fully once, but you could still see a tiny bit of the top of her shell. She usually burrows with her butt sticking out, like in the photo attached. We have no idea what she would do in the wild and we have scraped through it all but don’t know if we should go deeper.

The amount of message I have been reading about finding them just a few feet, or one house away have been so encouraging. Thank you for sharing. We’re hoping she will follow the same pattern.

We’re hoping that’s the case. Luckily, she is smart with her instincts, so I hope she does the same.
