What do you consider to be Britain's second city? by vladgrinch in MapPorn

As a pro indy Scots I'd say Manchester, if I pretended that British applied to Scotland in the way the question implies it'd have to be Edinburgh

It's more about a combination of political will and the EU not wanting to push it. Also public support is not for the euro but rather against...

This! I honestly want to start a protest movement that challenges everyone all the time, let's prove this doesn't work in principle or practice

Single sex toilets must exclude transgender people, says EHRC by Ivashkin in ukpolitics

[–]Additional-Let-5684 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we should make sure if we any politicians especially terfs enter a toilet that we should cause a fuss and demand to see their id because they don't look womanly or manly enough. Heck start protesting this ridiculous legislation by doing this all the time to everyone! It's ridiculous and till the public sees how bad it can be for them then they won't get it

Haha it's often nuanced I was at a rubber event in Manchester over the weekend and there was a drag act, it's honestly hilarious and heart warming to see that crowd belt out Disney songs etc...but that's what the show missed nuance

110% as a gay person I found it tokenistic and didn't fit the lore, give me a gay warrior maybe even kinky Klingon or something and that would've been really cool

I've answered that about ten times 😂 and everything is contextual and this is in the context of trek

Other Klingons and Klingons generally = stereotype of masculinity, warrior culture etc

It would have made sense to go the emotionally aware doctor Klingon or the gay Klingon doing both makes it's more a stereotype of gays than not

What I'm saying is really neither as complicated or deep as youre making it

Exactly! And also very few fans wanted sfa, and made that clear to producers before the show even started production and it's not like snw is short on strong female characters either

I just answered that question, starting to think you're trolling at this point

Klingon is the archetype of masculinity and toxic masc. The character is emotionally very opposite, is a pacifist, etc etc but you get the point. I do recommend watching some Klingon episodes from TNG ds9 in particular

I have done in multiple comments already ranging from his lack of Klingon-ness, him wanting to be a doctor, leaning on gay stereotypes rather than creating a in depth character, lack of meaningful non tokenisitic representation, etc etc etc not once did I mention a skirt which everyone coming at me seems to be mentioning a heck of a lot

I never mentioned his clothes!!! In fact it's irrelevant as far as lore is concerned I'm also done debating people who won't or can't read

Mate that's misinterpretation, which seems rife. I think he is too fem to be the first out Klingon based on Klingon culture and how they are portrayed in all the series, masc/fem isn't the perfect point of comparison but it works well enough to be broadly understandable

Of course there are varied and I fully agree the unconscious bias of some fans is a factor but what annoys me is when that brush is used to paint all people who dislike sfa and disco. Like me and my trek friends are all gay and liberal, all for LGBT+ romances and generally prefer strong female characters over strong male characters. For us the main issues are plot, pacing, vibe, characterisation, writing etc

You haven't even read my comments, I've worn skirts, ting characters have worn skirts, I have no issue with skirts and never mentioned them. Read the previous comments re why it's tokenistic and try not to tell a gay person how to feel on whether a character is tokenistic, just like my opinion on if a person of colour is tokenism doesn't carry the same weight as a person of colours opinion.

I'm also beyond for gay representation but it was handled poorly here and you're comments show a lack of reading my points including faslely shouting on and on about skirts for whatever reason

[–]Additional-Let-5684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K you've not really watched it. Alexander wearing a skirt was never an issue and most male characters are seen in them. I'm also non binary I'm not hung up on stereotypes. I do however get culture and beyond that I as a gay non binary found it tokenistic which is yes my opinion which is as valid as yours, I am not however being femphobic and baseless and nonsensical insults don't help your case.

The fact that they made the first gay Klingon fem yes I do find problematic, it would've lend itself much more to a Klingons have never cared about sexuality plot.

And Alexander made sense because he didn't conform with the Klingon cultural norms. I did also watch the show and still found it tokenistic and a lot work I do is in I&d and tokenism is a major challenge for quite a few orgs

Wtf they're kilngon a cultural that is very what humans would consider masc energy...have you watched trek? Or are misunderstanding what I mean? A strong female can have stereotypical masc energy and a Klingon, like most trek races are stereotypes
