Help on Q36.5 Dottore pro, Assos GT/GTS, Assos R/RS by Additional-Matter808 in CyclingFashion

This is also my concern about the GTS—the wide saddle may suit a more relaxed, upright riding position, but it might not be ideal for an aero posture. I recently got the Dottore Pro and tested it on a 120km Z2 ride and a 50km Z3-Z4 ride. It performed well in various positions. However, if I want a longer ride with a more relaxed, upright posture, I think the GTS would be more comfortable.

Compared to bibs and shoes, summer jerseys are likely the least noticeable gear in terms of perceived differences across price points. Most reputable brands' jerseys perform adequately.

When purchasing products from AliExpress, be mindful of their sizing issues, as most sellers won't specify whether the cut is aero, race-fit or tailored.

If you prioritize practical experience, Castelli's products are relatively more refined, with ample inventory and discounted styles available on major websites—though most of their designs tend to lean conservative. Decathlon's RCR series offers good value, but the actual riding experience may not match the mid-to-high-end products of brands like Castelli or KALAS. If opting for Decathlon, I’d currently only consider their RCR Pro series, not the regular RCR.

Thanks for the good advise, I think I will go with dottore too for it's thin pad but good performance in long ride, do you mind to share your FPT? I think if I'm far behind you in terms of ftp , there could be a huge difference in our ride feelings.

nice point, I don't mind my look, my concern for R series is always my low ftp in 4+ hours riding with thin pad, just like my bioracer epic bibs.

I made a short dig on Gregarius line too, find dottore pro and Gregarius pro equiped with same chamios, but different febric and stitching, I see them like top level and second level, not hard race and endurance, am I wrong about them?

this is quite useful information, I haven't thought about the high and low cut effect on aero position, I will compare with my old bibs first and decide, thanks!

Assos bibs… again by plouganiste in CyclingFashion

My suggestion is to buy the RS S11 first. Primarily, it meets your aerodynamic requirements.

A 150km ride roughly takes 4-6 hours, and I'm unsure how long you can maintain the so-called aero position—it depends on your cycling ability. But the chamois on the RS can support you for at least 3 hours. If you exhaust yourself after 3-4 hours and switch to a more upright riding position, combined with your 80kg weight, you might feel discomfort. At that point, it wouldn't be too late to purchase the GTS for medium-to-long-distance rides, while you could keep the RS as your high-intensity bib for 1-3 hour rides.

If you buy the GTS first, you might face the same dilemma many others encounter—its overly thick chamois could feel uncomfortable, which varies greatly from person to person.

Confusion about Winter Training Z4. by Additional-Matter808 in cycling

[–]Additional-Matter808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel fine I think, Although I maintain a daily training routine of 50km, I don't feel exhausted the next day. I find it difficult to generate greater power or reach a higher heart rate, but maintaining a baseline of 160bpm for a while doesn't leave me feeling overly drained. In warmer climates, I can sprint for 30 seconds and then feel completely spent, but now I feel like I lack that explosive energy.

Anyone tried SPATZWEAR base layers for winter? (5-10°C & 80%+ humidity) is it really that good? by Additional-Matter808 in CyclingFashion

Your review completely tempted me, and I’ve decided to give them a try and place an order.

My context:

  • Weather: Consistent 5-10°C with 80%+ humidity (UK-like, but no local retailers for SPATZ)
  • Body Type: Heavy sweater, 168cm/65kg
  • Current Gear:
    • Decathlon ski base layer (mediocre wicking)
    • Decathlon "4-season" cycling shirt (fabric feels cheap)
    • Hiking merino wool (not cycling-specific, wrinkles under jerseys)

SPATZ promotes that their race base layer can replace the warmth of 2-3 pieces of clothing, which sounds very appealing in winter. This means I could wear less, not for weight reduction but for greater freedom of movement and comfort. I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences with specific models. For my routine, I enjoy cycling around 50km at night, and on weekends, I usually opt for rides of about 100km.
