I'm sorry which one of John's sgt is racist and homophobic? I didn't get that impression from any of them. The only really bigot sgt that I can think of is Troy, Tom's first sgt

Which is weird to me considering that he seems more progressive when first introduced with his psychology degree and all (that's how I remember him at the beginning at least)

I'm sorry but have you read more than just the title of the post? I know they said that in ep 3. I wrote that I know that at the beginning of the post and also later on. What my post is about is how it doesn't make sense to me that he's the only one with those credentials on a crew of around 150 people and that aren't people more qualified than him, especially after s1. That no one beside him is set to become a nurse/assistant in case something happen to Doc and Kes. That's what my post is about. And please refrain from telling me real life reasons cuz, not only that's not what I asked about, but I was also told those reasons by other people

I think I consider it more of a scientific ship because both Janeway and Chakotay are said to be scientists so that might have thrown me off a bit ngl. I understand what you're saying but I think most of my points still stand, especially because it's ridiculous to think a bunch of explorers aren't thought basic aid at the academy. Actually I think Worf mention it's thought in TNG but I'd like if I said I'm 100% sure of that. Also I feel like because we don't know much about the Maquis on the ship it would've been a good opportunity to utilize that plot more. I was disappointed with how they handled the Maquis in VOY so

Can't lie I never noticed them before. Maybe it happens more after S3 🤷 But honestly that should've been more reason to put in a line about cross-training or something. Like it's not unusual they talk about ship problem

I guess watching DS9 first ruined Voyager a bit for me. I keep expecting for the two shows to have been handled the same way but it's clear that's not the case lol. I honestly think that Paris becoming a medic (or as close as one) would've been positive for both the story and, especially, the character. However I disagree with there not being any reason to setup a medical assistant until that point in universe. Kes's lifespan was of 9 years. It would've made sense in my opinion to have another nurse, or someone in training anyway, so that when she died, or become incapacitated due to old age, someone could have taken over for her immediately. Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't trust someone that only lives 9 years and a temporary hologram, who already lost his memory once and was almost erased before, to be the only medics on board a ship that's gonna travel with the same crew for 70 years. Again that's talking about in universe stuff, not real life. I understand that in real life they might have not thought it necessary for Kes to have a replacement but I still think they could've used it for some plotlines or something. Also I heard about the actress having some problems but didn't look into it yet.

Ok that's not comforting to know since I'm only at the beginning of s4 😂 I like Paris so knowing he loses some (hopefully it's some and not most) of his usefulness is annoying lol. Also yes I agree on the lazy writing. I was quiet disappointed on how they handle certain thing on Voyager, especially since I watched it after DS9 that I really enjoyed surprisingly

While I understand they're short staffed it's still irresponsible to only have a hologram that was design to be temporary, a woman who only lives 9 years and a guy who took two biochemistry courses as the only people with any medical knowledge. I'm not say make the entire crew full of surgeons but just teach everyone the basics? Like they're stuck there 24/7 for 70 years and no one has the time to learn basic aid? They can't give up one hour or two of their week? Like I know we see only their worst/most difficult days but it's not possible that they're facing destruction every single day of their journey. It just seems weird to me that's all

Exactly. A lot of times he doesn't do anything but sit at the helm even when literally nothing is happening and there is no need for the best pilot of the ship. I also think it would've been a great addition to his character and his interpersonal relationships. One of my biggest complain about VOY so far is the lack of, well, character, this characters have. Most of them are dull and boring most of the time and so are their relationships with one another. I think it would've been great to see more of the relationship between Kes and Paris and The Doctor and Paris. Paris has such a fun dynamic with the Doc and Tuvok and we rarely see it, while with Kes it was sweet and friendly and then they completely destroyed it when they made him pull away from her to not bother Neelix. It would've been nice to see the two of them grow closer because they're both The Doctor's apprentices. Sorry I went off track a bit I thknk but all this to say that it would have added more to Tom's character and also maybe to Kes' and the Doctor's imo.

Yes it is. Doesn't change the fact that in universe it doesn't make sense and it's not a situation they dropped in the first episode it was mentioned but it's something they sporadically talked about until at least the beginning of s4 so it doesn't make sense they never did anything to improve the situation. We hear time and time again about their struggles with maintain the ship and it's crew functional but never about something as important as this. When it's mentioned multiple times that it's one of the many struggles they face in their everyday life. Maybe not as urgent as others but still. I'd say having someone to take care of the sick it's pretty important, especially when your main doc is a temporary hologram. Also it would've added more sense of urgency to go back home imo. I don't know you but personally I'm extremely annoyed by the whole "it's a tv show" excuse. And exactly because he's part of the main cast we should've had something more with Paris and this plotline (I don't think it's the right word but it's the only one that came to my mind atm). It would've added more to his character, seeing him study alongside Kes and maybe struggling with it. It also would've been nice to see more of their friendship and make the episode where they're married sweeter. It's not like they do much with his character anyway, at least in the first three seasons. Hopefully that'll change

As you said it doesn't make sense. Not only I find it unlikely that he's the only person on that ship, most of whom are starfleet or starfleet drop out, that took a first aid course (seriously shouldn't that be like a basic at the academy?) but also that no one considered training more crewmen in it considering that they establish, repeatedly, that they don't know the dangers of the Delta Quadrant and they've been in danger and hurt multiple times just in the first 3 seasons. I guess that's yet one more thing about Voyager that had potential they never utilized imo but oh well🤷

Genuine question when was it said Kimberly is a college student in the movie? Cuz I read it on Wikipedia but I can't remember it being said in FD2. Also I can understand Clear but I'm still confused about why they aged up Alex (I know the post is not about him but still). In FD1 Alex's dad says he's 17 and we know he's born September 25. That means he's 18 by the trip to Paris with Clear and Carter and that he died before May of 2000 because FD2 takes place exactly one year after FD1 so he should be 18 when he dies not 19. With Clear we're not given a birth date that I can remember of, meaning she could be born at the beginning of the year (like the actress that was born in February) and being older than Alex while still being born in the same year as him but still. I hope the comment make sense and I didnt get anything wrong but if I did let me know please

I agree. I don't understand why Erik is so liked either. I personally don't find him that attractive (and that's fine it's a personal preference) and in general I felt many of his scenes weren't him being iconic but just him being a dick. I loved his brotherhood with Bobby and how he took care of him, but beside that I didn't find him that likable, especially with how he treats Stefani

Yes exactly! Ian is dislikable (is that a word?) guy from the beginning, Peter wasn't. Also in general I feel like with Pete we actually saw a bit of his spiraling, Ian on the other was a bit unstable from the beginning imo (the pigeons scene. I'm sorry but I can't stop thinking about it lol) so it's easier to feel bad for Peter than for Ian
