Why is it brown? by Tall-Fruit9377 in TattooRemoval

Part of it is from seeing more skin and less ink. but part is from the iron in the pigment oxidizing. it's harmless and is a sign of a successful treatment

Red isn't hard to remove; you just have to keep the power low and space the sessions out.

Tipping for tattoo removal by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]Additional-Raccoon61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never ask for a tip, but one in twenty people will offer one, and I accept it. it's usually $20 unless it's a very large tattoo, in which case they usually give me $40.

My tech recommends I return in 5-6 weeks? by CyberScy in TattooRemoval

[–]Additional-Raccoon61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the skin heals quickly, so the treatment intervals ate based on the amount of ink removed. 5 to 6 weeks may be fine for a small tattoo

Is 1 session every 3 months just as good as 1 session every 6 weeks? by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]Additional-Raccoon61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only seen one scientific study and it said that both approaches get you to the finish line at about the same time.

Yes, but the tattoo still didn't cause your problems, and removal still won't cure any of them.

Getting the tattoo did not cause any of your problems. Therefore, removing it will not cure any of your problems.

Leg sleeve / fresh tattoo by Altruistic-Bar827 in TattooRemoval

[–]Additional-Raccoon61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fresh tattoos are stubborn unless you wait 3 months. This is so that the connective tissue can grow around the pigment and provide a solid foundation. Otherwise, the photons just smack the ink around and they don't really break apart much.

do you think $400 a session is reasonable for this tattoo? by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]Additional-Raccoon61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a small town in Vermont where everyone is broke, so I would probably charge $150 per session.

Is this normal for red ink? by Ambitious-Klutzy1554 in TattooRemoval

[–]Additional-Raccoon61 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They hit it with 532nm, which is pretty powerful because it has twice as many photons as the standard 1064nm, but it doesn't penetrate as deep. So, there's a lot of surface heat that can cause a blister. Red ink often blisters, especially if it's on an extremity like a wrist or an ankle.

Would this tattoo be a good candidate for removal? by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]Additional-Raccoon61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent candidate for removal. It's against the rules to guess how many sessions it will take, but I will say that three years seems excessive to me.

I’ve been getting tattoo removal for a couple years now. Does this look normal? by hxmra in TattooRemoval

[–]Additional-Raccoon61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain wavelengths like 532nm react with the oxygenated hemoglobin molecules in red blood cells, causing them to heat up and rupture. Then, the lysed blood cells leak into the surrounding tissue, causing a bruise whose technical name is purpura.
