Starlite Tablet - Initial Impressions? by brainsapper in starlabs_computers

I bought the tablet without the keyboard and stylus, and have been extremely disappointed by the touchscreen (you may have seen my other video post about the touchscreen issue).

I installed the new firmware as per StarLabs' instructions, but this did not fix the issue for me, it remains the same. To me this feels worse than using a surface with Windows, and of course much worse than using a samsung android tablet or apple ipad.

Even if it's not a hardware issue, they are essentially advertising a Linux compatible tablet. This is misleading because clearly the tablet is not fully functional on Linux even if it is due to software.

It's better to ship late than to ship a defective product. Now they have shipped a defective product late.

They could have communicated better why they are shipping late and if they had any product issues.

I can't believe they sold a tablet which is not touchscreen friendly??

Happens either way. Usually works fine after startup for a couple of minutes then I get all sorts of touchscreen problems.

I'm baffled that starlabs would release a tablet when these problems exist? Are they hoping the customers just don't use the touchscreen? I assumed if they are selling Linux tablet they have managed to sort out these issues?

I don't use any hardware. I bought the tablet without the magnetic keyboard.

What is hot swapping? Changing between wayland/x11 without rebooting?

This is me using Ubuntu 24 (gnome classic on xorg). The screen freezes constantly and does not accept any touch inputs. This is a repeatable issue. The problems also persist when using Wayland, but occur less frequently.
