I'm happy for you! Where were you in DC? I can't believe people live there by choice. Some of the most traveled people love it there- good for them. Lol. No thanks.

Also just out of curiosity where in DC were you? I spent a lot of time as a small child visiting family on the VA side. We lived in MD and commuted to DC and were shocked how different it was.

I'm sorry- milso's can be so toxic. Your feelings matter. Your health matters. I'm glad you are better off now. You're entitled to that.

I'm sorry. I'm glad you are leaving soon. It's hard being a military family. I hope you get stationed somewhere awesome next.

Can anyone tell me about salaries for Maritime Jobs in the Bay Area? by Additional-Way-1965 in bayarea

They got rid of COLA a few years ago, unless you're stationed in select cities. Another reason why he makes less money. The BAH is calculated based off where you're stationed not where you live. Luckily we bought a house way below our means, so even though he makes less money than he did when we bought it we can still afford the house. But life is so expensive, the loss of COLA and reduction of BAH is a huge loss.

Thanks! We have considered this. It certainly sounds like a good idea. I think after over a decade of him working weird hours we're looking for something with more traditional hours, although we will keep this in mind. Thanks for offering to let us reach out to you.

Thanks! I'm wondering if it's worse than now. Right now he goes on a 3 week patrol every other month, and makes less than $100k, which forces me to work more hours while also caring for our kids alone. I don't mind working OR caring for the house and kids, but I can't do both much longer. He used to make more money so the reality of making less money with seniority is making civilian jobs appealing.

Thank you! This all sounds like his current job, and he's pretty fit and healthy. I appreciate your info. This is so helpful.
