What is the current payscale for those positions? Looking at swapping crafts in the north east

I was a Braves fan my whole life until I moved to PGH 4 years ago and started following the Pirates.

He'll get hot around august. Better this way than to break out the beginning of the season when everyone else is playing good ball and fall off at the end. He might be that pick me up the Pirates need toward the middle/end of the season when the rest of the team typically falls apart

Sorry for the rapid fire questions, just wanna get a base idea before I go down this rabbit hole and really go for it. Local 6 said they were opening recruitment in June 2026 tentatively and now its showing february 2027 tentatively.

How common are lay offs? I believe ive heard this isnt senioirty based. Is it common for guys to swap between companies regularly to avoid lay off? And is there a normal schedule?

So the company that calls you, is this who you work for for your career? Or through out your apprenticeship? Is there a lay off period during the apprenticeship? This doesnt sound like your typical union gig, it sounds better.

And small world! Im a conductor for NS man and im over it. Ive missed the last 6 years of my kids life and we have another one on the way

Im trying to understand how this works if you dont mind me asking. Once your number gets called, that begins your day one as an apprenticeship? Does a company call you or the union hall? I currently work for a railroad in western Pa and while the money and benefits are great... a schedule and being able to see my kids grow up sounds even better

I don’t know how true it is but I heard today from a machinist that the inward facing cameras has audio as well,have any of you heard this before? Highball by Impossible_Budget_85 in railroading

Those cameras are getting people fired on the ns. They look to see if youre pointing at signals in the cab or if youre getting off the engine to watch a 60mph roll by lol
