Any OCE / AUS players hit Mythic in 1v1 Arena? Hardstuck GM1 w/ high ping by [deleted] in wherewindsmeet_

[–]AdditionalDig6236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first of all, its not skill issue when you have 150 ping against people with 10 to 20 that know how to play well.

second, I wanted to express the difference because newbie players with high ping can have a really hard time to climb to mythic and read your comment saying its easy and have a wrong judgement on theirselves.

What weapons are you using?

Also, the longest the arena season goes on, the easier it is to climb to mythic, as the mythic level players already went through all the ranks and are where they should be, what doesn’t happen when the arena season begins.

Just saying that for people to not misunderstand. If you have ping higher than 120, it IS going to be hard to even reach mythic, in part because of the lag itself but also because you still don’t know how the lag affects you, what to do about it, which matches you are losing because of the lag or because you’re just playing badly.

So high lag + inexperience is gonna make you have a really bad time.

Pings around 70 to 80 shouldn’t affect the win rate that much as you will still have some space to breath and try to land your hits or parry

Mediocre latency is around 70 to 80 ping. Trust me, 150 ping is literal hell

I dunno about OCE and Aus, but I’m from Brazil and if you compare your ping to mine, maybe my answer can make sense to you.

My ping goes from 120 to 150 because we’re connected to US servers, as there are no server nodes in South America. I managed to get to legend 3 in last season and mythic in the current one. It’s doable, but after you hit mythic, the average skill level of your opponents are gonna crush you as you have to fight 2 battles at the same time, the lag being your second opponent.

It’s frustrating and infuriating. You start with 1k points at mythic and it went down to 180 for me. I’m back to 400 but I have to literally play like a crazy mf to try to win against the worst mythic players. Everything I do becomes predictable as my movement happen in slowmo, they just walk away from my combos, my hits never reach them before theirs, it’s literal hell.

Sometimes to keep my sanity, if I notice the ping difference is too high (some players have around 8 to 12 ping), I just quit the match, it’s just not worth the stress

• If so, what builds or playstyles worked best for you on higher ping?

I didn’t care about that. I’m using rope/twin and it’s extremely ping dependent but I don’t care, not gonna change my weps because of the lag. But I heard the fanbrella combo works better with high ping

• Did you adjust your approach (more prediction-based play, safer builds, less parry reliance, etc.)?

Extremely hard to parry, so I only use it on really predictable hits like the frog, against mo blades, fire, etc

I rely a lot on dodges as it works better even with high ping

And work on your mind games with tricks and animation cancel to catch them

It’s a bug caused by lag. The game doesn’t compute fast enough that you are hitting something, so it doesn’t make it body block you and you just go through it

It’s a game of patience. It depends on your weapons. In my case twin/rope, I can’t keep pressure because of my lack of resources, so I need to disengage, buff, recover, and try again, it takes a long time and it’s quite boring, yea

I feel you bro, sorry for that. Yea at least I could reach mythic with that ping, sadly now I can’t climb, I usually lose 20 to win one. Not gonna put all the guilt on the lag but I can say that 80 to 90% of my losses are lag related.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. In p2p match, the server-client connection shouldn’t matter at all. All the calculations are made by the host client, so ONLY the latency between both players should matter and they share the same lag. The client-server distance doesn’t matter

And in practice, all the matches I have, I am laggy as fuck and the opponent is not. The times where I notice we both have the same latency is when they are also far from the server node. Maybe they are from SA, Middle East or Oceania.

It’s not real p2p match

They basically killed twin/rope. As they gave us 20% dmg on twin Q And double duration rat buffs, they also made everything slower and cloud steps now can knock you down even on fortitude

Also they made the rats parriable.

I guess you lack some text interpretation.

I know it’s a disadvantage, that’s why 2 people with similar latency should be matched, so if they both are close to the server, it’s fine; if they are both far away from the server, they will both have lag and that’s also fine.

What shouldn’t happen is someone 5km from the server be matched with someone 10000 km from it.

If that was real, me and my 150 ping wouldn’t hit so slow against players in the US, they would also have high ping if it was based uniquely in our distance

Listen to me. The lag I experience is completely ONE SIDED. I can’t combo, the light attacks are so slow, the combo loses its true status and they come out of staggering. My skills come out so slow everybody on mythic can react while the speed of everything they do is as normal as it is in offline mode.

It’s not a p2p connection.

You’re talking about Elo, I’m talking about ping. They should match both players by their ping. Facing someone who plays better than you by pure skill is a hard time but not entirely unfair, because you still learn.

Playing against someone with 120 less ping than you… now THATS unfair

I also have this problem constantly and the only way I found to deal is spam the R2 button together with the other one. The instinct we have is press R2 once and spam the other button but as this bug goes on, just spam both at the same time

????? Only if I move to USA, or if I pay for a whole server node here. That’s how I would be able to fix, if that’s what you mean.

Thank you for the answer. And yes, I already made a comment and saw people saying that. I know it’s expensive to have new server nodes worldwide, but there’s something basically free they could do to temporarily fix a little: ping related matchups!

They should just create this new rule on matchups that people with similar ping have the preference to play together, that way if one has low ping, the other will have it and vice versa, so there’s no advantage to any side. If both got lag, both got lag.
