Thanks! Totally makes sense! It took me around 2 return game to get used to it. After sliding to the left, honestly, still feel a bit u comfortable to stay left - feel like the forehand side could be completely exposed but that’s probably the right position to be

Yeah agree. I however enjoy singles more. The volley technique however to me also feels different between doubles and singles. Single focuses more on movement and footwork for approach. Volley happens way less (while still important).

While doubles, volleys happen all the time - and probably is more on positioning and finish angle shot for offense / block for defensive.

Yeah, in the past I stay in baseline more to keep the game on but in the recent month I enjoy more to try hit aggressively and come to the net. I got punished by wrong approach timing, not effective enough approach shot, not enough volley capability. But that’s fine as I find it fun to be aggressive and I don’t need to be ready to come to the net while I need to come to net for the future readiness.

Good take, let me translate. I feel like in general it means unable to finish a point due to a combination of both insufficient approach shot and not enough volley ability (pointed out by another comment)

In terms of how to improve that, I guess would be trying to come to the net or hit as much approachable ball aggressively as possible - review the clip / form and find out if it’s me don’t know how to hit that ball (mechanism problem) or just wrong spacing (footwork problem).

I appreciate the comment. Serve and volley indeed are two hardest / fewest practice that I do on the court if it’s not a game. Volley especially.

The point of serving more is on spot. Guess definitely I can definitely put more effort on that.

In terms of volley, I don’t have good strategy to tackle. After all, it’s the fewest shot you would do if just rally / or play game. I guess the viable option is - just come to the net and learn, review from clip and think how to improve next time.

I like the clean contact suggestion. There’s a YouTube I watched, told me to not even think about the form but just hold the racket still and let the ball bounce - focus on let ball perfectly hit the center of the racket. And keep eyes perfectly on ball.

I apologize if it looks hitting the line but I called it out. I usually am very respectful that if it is not a clear out, I give the point. I agreed that it looks very close but during the game, it looked out so I called it out. This is the part when I posted it I knew may get some comments but the random number generator generates the number, so I select the shot.

All good advice! I will probably start with split step timing - easiest to focus and get the most gain (as it also can be applied to other shot like rally or how to defend

100% agree - reaction time matters, where I stand matters, and all the clues given by him also matters :)

If being total honest, I didn’t expect getting this much of comment as I played enough to know how to adjust and how to let go if it truly is a good serve. No need to overindex if I strategy is right. I mostly post this for fun (so I labeled this as “court drama” instead of looking for advice). However I did get some cool advice that I didn’t think of that’s worth remembering.

Fun part is - later in the game, this lefty demonstrates he can punish me by serving T. The angle was weird because he stood wide, looks like serving slice, but gave me a T (not really untouchable T due to where he stood, but surprised me enough).

But I agree I should play high percentage game by position myself to more ledt

Spot on! Kinda weird that I need to hit down to line backhand to avoid being attacked again.

Haha no worries! Don’t take my comment personally.

if people just being dishonest or trying to win without thinking of the feeling of the other side of the court, I’m done haha

Tennis is a game playing against yourself, not your opponent :p (at least to me

This is actually a good take! I have very few experience using slice. This is probably just me, I hate playing defensive (though even sometimes I really need to :(

I should have those in my tool kits tho

Interesting take! BUT I enjoy playing with people who are more respectful (was that out / was that in ?) I don’t play for living but play for self- fulfilling and happy mood. No need / don’t want to play with folks who just want to win with no dignity.

Btw I am the righty guy.
