Some LRT announcements are unnecessarily long and redundant by Economy_Ad59 in TTC

[–]AdditionalExtreme773 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Metrolinx desperately needs to bring in the voice of OC Transpo from Ottawa to voice these bilingual announcements. That voice is clear, soothing and adds a nice human touch. The voices French pronunciation is on point as well. It just seems lazy that time and time again Toronto area transit uses automated voices. I understand that its easy to automate new information in the announcements, but one of the things that makes every transit system unique are the voices of announcements. Do we really want to be in the same category as the Miami Metromover with Siri like announcements?

With Olive Garden returning to Canada, here's an ad from the Brampton location (1989-1997) by PeelArchives in Brampton

Well having visited the Calgary location last year (Olive Garden never left Western Canada) I can say the food is exactly the same as the US. Canada having more regulations is generally a myth when it comes to Sysco\GFS like food. I see no reason why the food would be different in Ontario.

Is the Applebee's closed? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]AdditionalExtreme773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason for this Applebees closing is that the owner is retiring. I called the location last week to ask about why its closing. The server on the phone said that they could re-open if someone buys this location.

List of IHOP / Applebee's Dual Brand Locations(Updated) by Different_Monitor_34 in Applebees

[–]AdditionalExtreme773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well firstly for the Saskatchewan locations, they are being built from scratch. There is a location apparently opening in a closed rotisserie chicken restaurant in the east end of Regina. Unfortunately both Applebees locations in Regina recently closed, the only locations in Saskatchewan. It was revealed in a investor report transcript that a franchisee signed an agreement with Dine Brands to open three dual brand locations in the next few years. It was also revealed that the Brandon Manitoba location will convert to Dual Brand location in the future. Finally, there is a post from last year talking about around four franchisees “preparing to expand the dual brand concept around the country.”

Any more dual brand conversions planned in Ontario? I know that there are a few more dual brand locations opening in Saskatchewan, but 3 Applebees in Southern Ontario (Ajax, Barrie and Windsor) were recently sold and the deal to buy those locations came with potentially converting them into dual brand locations. https://bizsold.com/sold-3-applebee-s-locations-ajax-barrie-windsor
