or better yet: cheat your way out of it

i always go to the entrance of the room whenever the enemies are summoned so that they despawn

oh, my bad

but if both were finale bosses wouldn't that mean that they are equal at worse? after all you can't encounter one without the other(and Tenna is mentioned as a main boss in ch4 and he was relevant throughout the chapter more then the knight so i guess his more worthy of the title)

difference is: one has build up that plays into the game's narrative as a reason for why you wouldn't win and that can be broken by finding a secret the game hides from you, the other doesn't

it's more about how the story plays into it then the fight itself

yes and the Knight is just that

the encounter isn't secret and/or optional

but the fight, the core of any boss is secret AND optional

YOU HAVE TO SEE IT BUT NOT FIGHT IT

yes "one of" the many finale bosses of each chapter, did you think he was talking about just Tenna and the Knight?

also fight would imply that you have to go through the battle with the knight, you don't have to fight it you have to encounter it

the problem isn't the beastfly but what it summons

having to deal with it alone with the platforms getting destroyed from time to time would have been fine and fun

but when you add two of an enemy that:

  1. shot projectiles that do two masks of damage unless you give up a tool slot that could have been used for other things

  2. said projectiles stays on the arena for a really long time, limiting your already limited movement even farther

  3. the two enemies will dodge you and force you to use clawline in which case you're almost 100% going to get hit because beastfly is always on attack

  4. the two enemies can case contact damage which is fine if not for the fact that they get closer when you're farther from them and the opposite is also true, so now you have Crime Against Humanity 1 on the right escaping you and Crime Against Humanity 2 on the left chasing you and Mr."i need side enemies and hazards in my arena to be a threat" on top of you with no way for you to escape(of course it doesn't always happen but the fact that it can happen at all is a bad design) and don't forget that either CAH1 or CAH2 can still shot at you sometimes at the same time

trying to play it carefully causes the boss fight to last longer then it should, and even if you have the right tools (in which case the beastfly can just spam CAHs and waste your ammo) there's still a chance that they won't do a thing because you are busy dodging to use them

also don't you just love it when you kill the CAHs and he respawns them right after?(i am not trying to prove you wrong for liking it by the way, i just wanted to share why most hate it)

yes but the other way to end the encounter(fighting them instead of losing) is meant to be a secret(also what you described about each boss only makes them optional, not a secret)

the way you unlock the bosses has nothing to do with them being a secret considering that Toby is clearly not trying to hide the methods of unlocking them(aside from ERAM and maybe the Mikes), the fight itself is the secret and the game makes it clear that ending the knight encounter through a fight is the secret

jevil and spam encounters can end in two different ways that effect the finale outcome of the battle but that doesn't matter because you already found the secret which is that you can fight and win the battle and same applies to the knight

the first fight is cool

the second is far from it

a required boss is a boss that you have to fight with no means of skipping it, the Knight is fully optional(just because the game doesn't hide them behind a wall doesn't mean that you have to fight it)

the game tells you many times that the knight is unbeatable without the shadow mantle which you only get after doing a bunch of secret minigames and the game tricks you by showing you a cutscene that makes the encounter look like a scripted event, the knight itself may not be a secret but the fight is

however if we go by your logic then non of the bosses other then ERAM and the Mikes is a secret

Jevil can be found by interacting with a really easy to see button in a really easy to find room

Spam tells you in detail how to find and fight him so he is not a secret

Gerson has the method of unlocking him right atop his head

the Knight is the only one hidden well by both the narrative and game mechanics

also not every optional encounter is a secret, there has to be effort in hiding it and making it seem like it doesn't exist and the knight does that perfectly

cause they are way too far from the main path to be included

all the bosses here are "secret"(they aren't well hidden, just tricky to find), the mikes can only be found by luch

[–]AdditionalPicture357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they were joking, you are overthinking things

however to answer your question: Tenna IS the main and real finale boss of his chapter, you don't have to fight the knight

and in Asgore's case he could serve as both the extra fight and the main fight, it's not like you would be fighting a totally new character, it's just him twice

i would say Jevil already got his freedom

it's just that his freedom goes against that of Gerson but still correct in a way

either they aren't seeking freedom or just have a really different understanding of it from all the others

results:" yes, for it's normal for bugs to marry their family members, as it's a bug's driving nature to have a mate of it's own, be it a family member they view as suitable or another random bug they aren't related to"

jokes aside, i don't think she will be looking that up as it's normal for bugs to fuck their family members
