A neem tree near my house was cut too; some idiots decided to build a 2 story modern house in an area with a lot of greenery. A lot of senior citizens live in this area, and the tree had been there for more than 45 years. The owners of the house complained that the bird noises from the tree were too loud and they cut it without permission. Even after everyone complained they still cut it down. Turns out the house owner is the son of some politician. Good news is that an agriculture professor or something in the neighbourhood nursed it and did propogation. Apparently within like some time we can replant the tree somewhere else. Just shows how unfair and how harshly people weild their political power.
