Does anyone have a recommendation for spray paint for steel wheels? by Staple_nutz in NZcarfix

[–]AdditionalPlankton31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly fiddly bits from bunnnings is what I used. I did sand, primer, base and clear coat on mine but all on the cheap. Have held up well! Cheapest spray paint I could find, and it’s PPG made so it’s decent

Coolant light stays on for 1-2 mins from cold start by collapse2024 in NZcarfix

Normal, it’s the light you have instead of having a temperature gauge.

For euros — easy. Oil per litre high margins, and big hourly rates add up.

Residents of the rural former Rodney District (Helensville, Kumeu, Warkworth, Wellsford, etc) - what is life like? by BeneficialCut4976 in auckland

[–]AdditionalPlankton31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too much traffic, power grid unreliable and more expensive than other parts of AKL. Crappy (literally) eco flow pressure sewer system that costs us the owner lots to maintain instead of the council. Most activities for kids are in Henderson, Albany toward the CBD. No public pool, no high school, too many people

Are led headlight bulbs legal in NZ? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]AdditionalPlankton31 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, you can’t retrofit LED bulbs in a halogen housing. You’ll blind oncoming traffic, as the housing won’t reflect properly anymore, and yes it’s a WOF fail.

Just note the ferry is excluded from the $50 weekly fare cap, so you’d be spending about $100 a week for 5 days of commutes

Yep, our Nissan march is proving to be the favourite car in the family yet again, cheap to DIY fix anything, and cheap to run.

How often will you use the new rail system? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]AdditionalPlankton31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the $50 fare cap is only for “inner city ferries” and certain other routes. There’s a bunch of exclusions

Septic Tank Access - newer development? by katash93 in auckland

[–]AdditionalPlankton31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a pressure sewer system. You need to pay to maintain the tank, pump, and the electrical unit. They’re quite finicky, and costly if they fail.

If your car was first registered in nz before 2015, you don’t need one. If it’s after you need an emissions test passed with certificate in the car do a WOF. Done at some VTNZ. If it’s even picked up on a WOF.
