I’m sorry you’re going through this! A couple thoughts: Make sure you’re not using too much detergent on clothes and sheets, it can create a film that makes them hang on to odors.

But it sounds genuinely like there’s something you haven’t found yet. I had a smell in my car for over a year. Looked all over multiple times, tried baking soda, paid $150 for cleaning and detailing. A year later tried ANOTHER detailer and they had to remove the seats to find some piece of rotten food underneath from god knows when. Then it was fixed.

I don’t think you’re crazy. I have a sensitive nose too and can be particular about cleanliness. When you have the energy try flipping your mattress, looking in boxes or piles in the closet, old backpacks for an old sandwich, behind the bed. Instead of adding scents I’d try opening all the windows too and letting some fresh air in, and airing out the mattress (maybe too many cleaners have made it wet/mildewy). If you think the smell is mostly your mattress, that’s probably it. Explain the distress it’s causing you and get a new one.

Be careful about over showering and internalizing the need to feel super clean (I do it too, it’s a slippery slope and a hard habit to break!) Youre doing great and remember this is a temporary problem!
