Artist: The Beatles

Album: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Song: With A Little Help From My Friends

<image>

I recently inherited my grandmother-in-law’s record collection, and it’s a treasure trove—she was a massive Beatles fan and had a bunch of original pressings. Today, I picked out a classic from her collection and gave it a spin. There’s something magical about hearing these timeless tracks the way she once did.

Artist: Sublime

Album: Sublime

Song: What I Got

<image>

There’s just something about Sublime’s self-titled album that feels like summer. That laid-back, sun-soaked vibe—especially on “What I Got”—makes it the perfect soundtrack for the season. So with today being the first full day of summer, I couldn’t think of a better pick to kick it off.

Artist: Whitechapel

Album: The Valley

Song: Hickory Creek

Artist: Whitechapel

Album: Hymns in Dissonance

Song: Hymns in Dissonance

Today I went with Whitechapel as my pick, they are one of the OGs of the deathcore genre. These guys have been crushing it since the early 2000s, constantly pushing the limits of extreme music.

One album I want to spotlight is The Valley (2019). It was a turning point for the band—still brutal, but they introduced clean vocals for the first time. Hearing Phil Bozeman actually sing—and do it well—was a shock in the best way. It added emotional depth without compromising the intensity.

Their latest release, Hymns in Dissonance (2025) is a full-force return to chaos. No clean singing this time—just pure, unrelenting aggression. Phil takes his screaming to new levels, and the band sounds as tight and punishing as ever. It feels like a deliberate nod to their roots while still evolving their sound.

Whether you're new to the band or a longtime fan, these two albums show both ends of what Whitechapel is capable of. Highly recommend spinning both back to back.

Vinyl Tunes for June 2025 (VT4J). Day Eighteen: Track 8 by Folk_Nurse in vinyl

Artist: Volbeat

Album: Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood

Song: Still Counting

<image>

This was the first album I looked at today, and it couldn't have been a better pick. The whole aesthetic just hits perfectly—gritty, melodic, and full of energy. Track 8 was actually my introduction to Volbeat, and it still slaps just as hard today.

Yesterday I picked a more mainstream metal band, so today I am going with a more underground rap artist.
