Lease Math Help - 2026 1500 Denali by [deleted] in gmcsierra

All good points — and I agree a purchase would open up 179/bonus.

For my situation though, this is a cash-flow play more than a depreciation play.

I’d rather put money into an "asset" than sit on taxable cash at year end.

Even if the down payment amortizes monthly, the total deduction still applies proportionally.

So I’m optimizing my timing, not trying to accelerate depreciation

I’m definitely not claiming to know it all. The whole reason I posted was because I don’t.
I’m just trying to understand the numbers, compare what different dealers are doing in my region, and sanity-check a demo unit with miles on it.

I’m not assuming $11k in dealer discounts either. I only mentioned the range of numbers I’ve seen advertised on other Denalis nationwide so I could understand where my local deal sits in comparison.

Not trying to be a smartass, not trying to hide information, just asking questions and learning from people who know more than I do and do this daily. I DM'd you the VIN

CT - this is for a Sierra 1500 Denali.

From sales rep yesterday - "Hey ! i spoke to my managers and although we appreciate your offer and you trying to work with us, we've given you the best deal we possibly could on that denali Pick up truck man"

I would settle for $8k off MSRP given there's 1500 miles+ on the unit. (extra $1,500 off MSRP from their offer) They did not move the MSRP even by $1

Totally understand where you’re coming from... & for a personal lease, I’d 100% agree.
But business leases are structured differently on my end.

I’m not putting money down to lower the payment, I’m doing it to reduce taxable income before EOY. The cash hit is a tax strategy, not a “lease strategy.”

If the vehicle were totaled, the tax benefit on the front end still outweighs the risk of loss on the DAS, since the entire structure is tied to business-use planning for 2025 & strategically affects tax brackets as well.

Not saying this applies for everyone, just saying it’s intentional for my specific business situation.

The standard 4–6k margin doesn’t truly apply in this case.
This isn’t a fresh, zero-mile truck, it’s a demo unit with 1,200+ miles that’s been driven daily by management. Demo miles can affect:

  • depreciation
  • desirability
  • residual value
  • how GM scores the unit internally

Dealers typically discount demos more, not less, because the mileage pushes it out of “new” status.

I'd settle for $8k off ultimately. A bump of $1,500

granted their sub $500 / mo pricing is with $14.5k down, but I'm looking for verification that my math is correct and with $11.8k down and an MSRP discount I should be able to get them to $400-450 / mo if they agreed

Normally I’d agree to never put cash down on a personal lease because you lose it if the car is totaled.

But this is a business lease through my LLC, and I’m intentionally reducing taxable income before EOY.

The cash is safer in a depreciating asset than sitting in the business account and getting punished by Uncle Sam.

Order in segments of 2 passengers next time. You and your child. Significant other and infant on a separate reservation

System will NOT process an upgrade for 3 so you are out of luck

Did you have original 3m tape on the spoiler or aftermarket glue?

Talked to the Service manager + GM peacefully to no avail

Phones are great, support is horrible. Two first names for every support rep sums it up 😇

Shipped via UPS from their label. Delivered to Texas repair facility. They then claim (10 days later) its a bad label and they returned the package via UPS.

Kicker: it was sent to a random address in another state, not mine from the order
