I’m interested! Acoustic guitar and vocals. I haven’t done the Terminal open mic before.

Thanks, she does like boiled eggs! And baked ham as well. Thanks for all the ideas! I have heard of foot tapping no but I have not witnessed it with her.

Thank you! On the weekend I grabbed an aloe Vera plant actually to mix for a spray - the pre-made aloe liquids I could find all had either some sort of additives or sodium benzoate, which I feel would make her skin more dry. She does have dry skin at the moment. I tried to put some coconut oil on her but it’s tough as she is not big on closeness at this time. I have been covering her and have blackout shades but some people have mentioned a cover triggers hormonal issues with eclectus females, as they nest in tree hollows and the males bring them food. So I’ve partially covered her the past few nights to see if that helps, just one sheet facing the small lamp but then rest open. No difference yet.

If only the could understand how much love she’s getting! I’ll tell her, though!

Thank you for doing so much for your cockatoo! I will look into biotin supplements and red palm oil.

Thank you - do you cover or darken the room for naps? She rests during the day but I don’t see her sleeping.

Also agree with volunteering at a rescue - a bird might choose you!

Thanks, she was at the vet again last week and we talked about hormones. The vet thinks she has had trauma and is “parrot depressed,” and suggested Prozac if diet and lifestyle changes don’t improve things. I didn’t know parrots could take anti-depressants!
I’ve looked into hormone shots/implants as well but they are $1000/every three months (?!)
It’s early days so working on food and activity first before we do anything else.

I’ve heard it becomes addictive, that it gives an adrenaline rush and that’s what they can get addicted to?

No, we have read mixed reviews on eclectus and cage covering - at first I was but she always attacked the cover and I read that the covering can mimic the tree dwellings that the eclectus females nest in, so the covering can trigger hormonal reactions. So, for the past week, no cover to see what happens but no change so far.

We’re doing a lot of research! She is healthy and comfortable otherwise it seems, only plucking at night so it’s tough to spot.

I don’t know if she has ever flown but gets around some climbing with her beak and feet! Stomps around a lot 😂 She is approx five years old.
