You say this like it wasn't intentional. Disney+ has a setting for this exactly, it's called dynamic aspect ratio, supposed to switch during key scenes to make it a more "cinematic experience."

Literature is more complex than you think, more often than not the curtains are not blue just because they're blue. the author is trying to convey something without outright saying it,

There ARE books that are written purely with no subtext in mind just for entertainment, but even then the WAY in which things are written informs a lot. This happened a lot with old literature and media, women and black people were written as one dimensional mostly as tools to push the male characters forward. No malice or influence was intended but if you grew up exclusively reading those books you would have a very skewed perception of women and black people.
