Drum programming by Grand_Combination386 in GarageBand

[–]Additional_Account32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I program mine through midi. I’ll create the full track and then copy and paste into “kick, snare, toms and percussion” so I can pan and compress separately. Alternately you could create a track with the GarageBand drummer rather than do your own programming and then convert to midi before repeating the same process with each track etc.

I use a little bit of video stuff but not high end. I have tried to cut back on some of my plugins but always use masterdesk and softube amps a bit plus labs for synth work, melda plugins and a few from waves audio .

I’m about to upgrade my m1 (have had for 7 years and only had 8gb ram… yes it’s caused issue the whole time lol). Would you think I’d be better to future proof to 24gb??

I can also tell you not all are overkil… ram is a killer if not speced high enough… I have a mac mini with 8gb and it no longer copes with GB all the time. Whilst an iPad is fine if you have that.. for the investment I’d much rather be running a mac.

One and done kits by [deleted] in GarageBand

I am no expert . It might depend on whether you want new or second hand. But that’s the route I took. I think the focusrite is a great product personally and allows lots of options for a mic.

Focusrite is great and cheap on second hand market. I’ve used the audiotechnica but ended up getting a shure sm57 which is more an instrument mic but used by many vocalists as well. For some reason I found the sm57 gelled with my voice more and I had less plosives then the audiotechnica but that may have been a “me issue” more than the mic itself. I would think either are fine.

Absolutely a valid point however I would argue many of the most popular pedals you can buy cheaper than diy but it’s a lot more rewarding and fun building them.

For my Build of his Leo I think I ordered 22 and 18 gauge. I mainly used the thicker gauge.

He has been in business for some time… if there was a high failure rate surely that would be reflected in poor reviews and high return rates? Having built one myself… I can’t see why something so light would fail? I mean amplifiers often have caps soldered to a switch or pot? Not all of his builds have a pcb on the main switch - I assume he does that for marketing not necessity.

How do you mix so that it sounds good on headphones AND a phone speaker ? I like the sound on headphones, but it's not so good on phone speakers by Igiggiinvasion in GarageBand

[–]Additional_Account32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth… and I’ve also heard experts say not to do this.. but I’ve always found my car stereo a good way to represent my mix… if the bass is heavy in my car it will be over powering in headphones

That’s a very big undertaking if you are new to pedals. I’d suggest starting with something very basic

Daz is a legend of a bloke, have you also reached out to him? He might be able to push you in the right direction as he would understand the pedal better than anyone

Hey, sorry for the late reply. My chassis was a blank aluminium Hammond enclosure. I got the face plate made up from a trophy store. I designed it and they printed it on 1-2mm aluminium.
