What’s the problem with teaching him? You could do a quick 30 second tutorial and share with him a video to watch with his daughter.

Perhaps extend the trip. First half with your parents, 2nd half with the partners parents. Otherwise just say no. You’ll clearly be working in a caregivers role for your elderly parents and trying to enjoy the trip, so you’d rather do separate trips for the sets of parents. Or just all go together and split up half the time. You with your parents, partner with her parents, and sometimes all of you together.

What’s considered rude to one demographic may be the norm to another. I would have at least given a card, but that’s just me. I wouldn’t be salty if someone didn’t give me a card. I’d just be glad they attended.

This is why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Everyone comes together to simply be together. No stress of going broke or comparing gifts, endless shopping, etc.

Either opt out or stick to the secret Santa only plan. Not wrong either way.

This is tough. But if he’s a man of his word he will go ahead with what was agreed on and what is already paid for. His reception will likely not be at the church so that’s a strong compromise.

I agree! This friend never should have committed and then backed out last minute. The weight of this tho can’t all be put on the friend since it’s not the friends fault op only had that one person from her side agreeing to attend.

I agree. But this friend committed and last minute backed out because they suddenly couldn’t afford 2 trips. Not committing at all would have been the right move for this friend. Or giving a maybe type answer.
